silent_64 0 Posted April 21, 2003 Complex addons use complex features, then it's natural that theres a long readme with the addon, and i think it's a good idea to release the readme before the addon, but i think Colonel_Klink idea of a answering questions to get the addon is a bit... Over the top! Also by releaseing the readme befor the addon all of the features would be in the readme, and thats a good way to keep the rumoes about the addon at a minimum. colonel_klink 0 Posted April 21, 2003 How come the readme.txt didn't come with a readme.txt? damn I wish addon makers would include adequate documentation with their readme files . How do I read this? What program do I use? How come Paint Shop Pro wont load up the readme file? Do I put the readme file in my addons folder or user missions folder? When are they going to have a self installer for the readme? This readme is so confusing.

Guest jacobaby Posted April 21, 2003 Well i'm gonna ask the team about releasing the readme, and MAYBE that will go up today......maybe....... It documents all of the features and known issues to date. And I have just given all the features the final once over and am happy with them. There is a bit of work to do on the model, just a few proxies and stuff to set up, and the LODs need looking at according to our guru..but after that........well........ As far as the money it has cost me. It goes like this. I am self-employed, which means that everyday I take to do the scripting is a days less money.....so far I would be looking at approx Å1000 - Å1500 I suppose. So you can imagine how I feel about the MH47....... anyway, im off now to speak with DM, who I hope will put the finishing touches... TJ

The Harrier has cost me several books, models and nearly a marriage, not to mention the hours of texturing and scripting. Making the model is the easy part. getting it to function and look realistic is another story entirely.
Guest DKM-jaguar Posted April 21, 2003 ha ha, i feel sorry for you married guys!! i cant divorced...i am not married... i am not [in my opinion] old enough to get married. anyway, i dont read readme's that often, unless it has operating data for the addon that i need to know. I just take it as they come, if they have bugs, i can see them, i learn to forget aout them. I igonre the bad sides, look at the good sides. Do i come with a readme? Guest jacobaby Posted April 21, 2003 well seeing as the *&!$@~# powers that be closed the release thread down And seeing how we are likely to release other addons in this way.......... (oh it is btw READY for release.....) And seeing how we would have used the existing thread.......... Anyway..... Last query.....the freelook thing. Play around with it. Its just TOO MUCH FUN in single player, you can shoot LAWS through the hatches, bail out the back.....whatever. I have tried it online against Nagual who is 8000 miles away, average ping of 450, and to be honest, it looked OK with him and me both free inside the chopper. Funny enough, on a LAN it seems a lot more jumpy....its the game trying to compensate for where it thinks the player should be.... So try it out, see what works best for you. If you are the team leader in a MP game and you are in command of a helo with no other human occupants, it will be local to you, and it will act just fine. Honestly though, play with it first...you'll work it out........ TJ
Jamesia 0 Posted April 21, 2003 Will it be possible to let the AI do a lot of this stuff on its own. eg. in the readme file will you provide all of the scripts so that we can be grunts? (THIS SOUNDS FANTASTIC BY THE WAY!
