Recommended Posts

Well i'm sure there was an official BAS topic but i couldn't find it, so close this but it still gets the info across.

Oh, and don't ask why i'm up at 5:36 AM on the internet.

And the link to the BAS website:

There is also news about new Littlebird Re-Release, Ranger/Delta Pack Update and new SOAR Pilots.

Wow! Got to love extremely realistic and (most probably) functional defensive countermeasures! Great work BAS, as per usual, and take your time. I'd rather have a perfect bird, than a rushed one.

With that said, can't wait to have some fun that chopper. wink.gif

Flares wouldn't be flares if they didnt confuse the IR seeking missiles.........(whats that in the background heading away....??)

AFAIK the MH47E is very close to release, I have pretty much finished up the scripting for it.

While I didnt opt for some of the funky features that DKM's excellent RAH66 offers, I have included several things that should add a new dimension to your gameplay, and that should set a new standard in some areas.

Out of interest, what would folks REALLY like to see included in this chopper? ? ? ?

You never know, fast replies just might make it in.........

How about automatically opening the ramp when it's on the deck, and closing on takeoff?

Nah... I like the ramp open while the helicopter is flying.

Personally I would just like it to carry a vehicle inside, but I don't think that's possible with any amount of scripting in OFP. If it is it would be a major breakthrough in addon making.

Rapelling is usually not done form the MH-47 although it's possible if done from several of it's doors simultaneously. What I think would be nicer is a script for picking up vehicles.

But this can be done with an external script so no biggie.

Lets see... hopefully the minigun won't have bullets that act like 30mm cannon rounds. Please make them regular bullets but with a nice high fire rate... also keep the sound. I LOVE the sound of the minigun on the older version of the MH-47.

An ECM system would be nice. Another nice thing would be a M2 or M60 gunner on the rear hatch, but due to OFP engine limitations I know that would be impossible unless someone figures out how to get around the problem of the game only allowing one gunner.

How about the ability to drop ammo boxes by parachute. Where you give a command and it creates a ammo-box (with BAS M4, M4S, M249, M240, AT4, ect... ammo) that on command can be "cam-created" and parachuted out of the helicopter. There is a nice script that adds parachutes to objects and which possibly could be incorporated into this addon. That might be nice.

Finally.... I hope you all make it handle a little better because the old version often crashed while landing because it "skids" too much when trying to land as it often slides right into the side of a building or a hillside.

Anyhoo.. those are just some ideas.

Is a repelling script in the work for the MH-47? I know you're working on one for the MH-60L, So I guess it will be included?

But will it have one repelling rope (on the side at the door) or three (on the side at the door and two at the ramp) like in RL?

I noticed the black smoke comming from the engine exhausts. Does this only happen when the bird is damaged (like on the kiowa pack) or is that normal (I've never seen smoke like that come from engines of chinooks I've seen)?

And how is the MH-60L doing. I noticed one in the background. (sorry for asking)

Ok I had posted a reply, but it seems to have vanished so I'll try it again.

We think you guy will be very pleased with the re-release of the MH-47E, and we are confident it is unlike anything you've ever seen, and anything you've tried in OFP. Our guys spent lots of time, and their blood, sweat, and tears, in an effort to perfect this aircraft, and get it up to the BAS standard.

We are confident in saying there is nothing like it, and no one comes close to it. As to the included features, all I can say is: YOU MUST read the read me file, since the Federal Aviation Administration in the US nearly made us require everyone to have a pilots license just to release it!

As to the comments about the cargo ramp, I think you'll be pleased with the options available.

As to the comments about rappelling. Actually, and especially in the case of the MH-47E (Which is a special operations helicopter) Both Rappelling and Fast Roping are done frequently from the aircraft in reality. Multiple personnel can Rappel/Rope off the ramp at one time, and in some instances, personnel can Rappel/Rope through the cargo window in the floor of the bird.

The CH/MH-47 is capable of many types of operations which are frequently trained and are standard proceedures including: Helo Casting, Wet insertions/Extractions, SPIES/STABO, Rappelling/Fast Roping, and CSAR Rescue winching type functions.

In any event we think you guys will be pleased and pleasantly surprised with our release, and as always it will have the BAS Quality Standard... I think you'll find that it is going to raise the bar once again in addon quality and functionality standards in the entire community.

The MH-47 is configured with the following equipment:

Aircraft communications equipment consists of FM, UHF

(with HAVE QUICK II capability), VHF, HF, SATCOM, and the Motorola Saber.

The MH-47E is equipped with SINCGARS VHF-FM single channel ground and

airborne radio system.

Automatic Target Hand-off System provides the capability of

data bursting pre-selected/ formatted information to other equipped

aircraft or ground stations. A navigation system consisting of a

Mission Computer utilizing GPS/INS/Doppler navigation sources

for pinpoint navigation.

Fast Rope Insertion Extraction System. May be utilized for

insertion and extraction of personnel.

Applied loads at the rear ramp for insertions will not exceed 9 persons

per rope at the same time. Applied loads at the rear ramp for extractions

will not exceed 6 persons per rope at the same time.

Internal Rescue Hoist. Is configured for use at the center

cargo hook/rescue hatch. It has a 600 lb. capacity and approximately

150 feet of useable cable.

External Rescue Hoist (MH-47E only). Is configured for use at the

right front cabin door and has a 6000 lb. capacity with 245 feet

of useable cable. Also Fastrope capable with hoist installed.

External Cargo Hook System. Each hook may be used separately or

in conjunction with each other. All loads should be planned as a

tandem rigged load, this will facilitate greater load stability

and insure faster airspeeds during flight. Hook limitations are as

follows:

Forward Hook - 17,000 lb.

Center Hook - 26,000 lb.

Aft Hook - 17,000 lb.

Tandem Hook - 25,000 lb.

NOTE:These are maximum hook rated loads and may not accurately

reflect the true capability of the aircraft due to external conditions,

i.e., pressure altitude and temperature.<span id='postcolor'>

LOL Damo!

Now they will WANT all those options...........

I can definetly reveal this much..

It will have all of the effects that were on the Kiowa, because those effects were developed for the MH47 and moved over.

@ the question about the black smoke;

Its the same as on the Kiowa. Very faint in normal operation to look like a heat trail...blackening up if you take a few hits...

Not by using the in game DISEMBARK menu AFAIK.

If it hadn't been for BHD im sure you guys wouldnt be so keen to see rappelling.......

I'd like to ask that you use the rotorwash effects that Snypir uses in his MP/SP support pack. Those effects looked very real (notice how they expand outward concentrically) and they didn't affect my frame rate a bit. As it is, the Kiowa's rotorwash effects look like hairballs an invisible spinning cat puked out under the helicopter.

I'll second Hellfish plea. smile.gif I don't like the "dougnut ring" rotorwash effects either.

So open it. wink.gif

Having the position normally governed automatically will save a wee bit of time on mission scripting. One less thing to think about.

Two things to say.....

Snyp has updated his support pack, and guess what dust he's using?

2nd, if you honestly prefer the pretty effects of Vektorboson's dust wash, with its way of sticking up over sloping ground, and the way it is always the same, then you are welcome to use it, just turn our's off using the method described in the readme.

(and if you honestly think that looks realistic I STRONGLY recommend a visit to an airport. Or an optician...:p )

If however you would prefer a dust that was developed with the co-operation of an RAF helicopter pilot, that has a realistic circumference (no dust under helo bodies btw...) and that reacts properly according to the height of the helicopter and the diameter of the rotor blades.....well then ......use ours. When developing it I used to go next door to the airport and stand next to Ch47's as they took off.

Its a matter of personal preference, and so we gave the option to turn it off, but this is the dust that we prefer, this is the dust we will be using, and thats's that, subject closed really. biggrin.gif

At any rate, if you dont use BAS units with them you wont be able to see the dust for coughing and blinking....
