Damn i hate the user modes in that - Â i have to log off and go into 'administrator' mode to delete a file ffs! I liked 98 even though it was as slow as shit compared to XP. Does anyone know how to make win XP less 'user friendly'? Also i tried the benchmark 2003 thingy and it was suprisingly slow but i heard that Nvidia cards don't like it for some reason. But the wings of fury vid was cool and of course 'educational'!<span id='postcolor'> log in as admin, go to control panel, and then select user accounts. press change an account, select the account u use all the time, then select change type and select administrator. this is winxp pro so I dont know if this feature is different
Mister Frag 0 Posted February 26, 2003 In XP Home, users have administrative priviledges by default, because in a home environment there usually isn't anyone else managing the system for you. If a given account doesn't have administrative rights, it's because the account was set up that way.
Jinef 2 Posted February 26, 2003 i have administrative rights okay, they just don't seem very administrative, i can't even delete essential windows files now!

I used to use XP, but I really did not like it. As you said its way too 'user friendly'. It takes so much more time to get anywhere because there are files upon files to navigate and it is so irritating when you want to get somewhere. Then theres those big bars in all those multi-coloured schemes. All that XP is is Windows 2000 with a new interface basically.

If you can get enough so you are running 512mb of DDR Ram. It will really improve your perfomance in OFP. I went from running 256mb of ram to 512 and the diffrence is quite notable. Balschoiw 0 Posted February 27, 2003 yep I have recently upgraded to a MSI KT2 Raid board with XP 1800 a clanmate donated to me and 512 MB PC 333 DDR Ram. I had 850 Duron 256 SD Ram before and now OFP looks totally new to me. It is really great how a game can surprise you over and over again.

Personally I'm using the XP silver theme and I have reduced the size of the big bars so everything doesn't look so teletubby anymore. The same look has been in Windows since 1995 so after about seven years of looking at the same old taskbar and windows I decided to use the themes in XP. I`m still upgrading my PC only for OFP Now I have an Athlon XP 2400+ with 1GB DDR 333 RAM and a GeForce 4 Ti 4200. These days it`ll be a Radeon 9700pro. Makes OFP almost photorealistic: 1280x1024, normal detail, 2500m visibility, all LODs to full and the textures also. When I have the Radeon installed I`ll go to terrain detail high and AA and AF

Win XP Pro - SP1 I've got a buyer for the MB and CPU, so I'll be getting the AT7 MAX2 as it supports DDR400. Also the CPU is a 1900 Palamino, so it doesn't clock very well. (Machine heats up and falls over). So I'll probably replace it with a XP2100+ Thoroughbred, as they are great for clocking. (I've seen people getting up to 2500mhz on those buggers! ). For the Brits here, I recommend Overclockers UK for PC bits. All the stuff is the best quality and the service is great. (My board turned up bust, so they got a new one to me the next day. Those poor bastards on eBuyer have to wait up to 4 months! ). OH, and the forums are fantastic. A certain mod here has been spotted frequenting them. As for Dual CPU's. My server is a Dual PIII, and it ran OFP adequately. I stuck on Falcon 4.0 however and it flew. (F4 is multithread capable). Only get a Dual if you are running a highend server, or use programs that utilise multithreading (Imaging and coding etc). Then again, having a Quad Xeon sounds pretty cool!
