Computer is way 2 accurate in shooting

Recommended Posts

I play ALOT in flashpoint and the thing that gets on my nervs is that the computer is WAY 2 accurate even in low AI the computer never miss (almost... 95%)

and thats not good at all...

i want it to be more realistic that the computer wont be like a sniper with ak47...

waiting for answer...

It really depends on the mission maker. Try making a mission of your own, set the AI skill level to minimum and see for yourself that they couldn't hit the broad side of a barn at 50m distance.

This is not a troubleshooting issue, moving to G smile.gif

In first versions of OFP , the AI was not very good in balance :they could see through lot of things , heard you from one island distance wink.gif etc.... , but with my actual 1.46 , it has been very improved

Now , most AI soldier play +/- human-like

Sometimes they dont hear you , their shots miss you etc .... i dont have the wish to take the CD and use it for ball trap anymore biggrin.gif

But , one weird behaviour i always dont like is the officer AI

90% of the time i am killed by infantry , it is not by a regular but by the officer , their accuracy and -6th- senses seems to make them the elite soldier that other AI soldier are not

That is the lowest point of the infantry AI for me, what i can accept from special forces AI is not very good for my fun from the regular infantry AI

Officer enemy AI : DIE , thats my word wink.gif

At a normal skill level, the AI's accuracy balances out with it's lack of awareness. Sometimes they look at for you a good 5 seconds before they shoot.

they always fire in burst mode to, ild like to see em go full auto, even with mgs tehy burst fire, i dont find burst fire very useful.

I was a machinegunner and we never used anything but burst fire. 6-9 round bursts were the norm. Anything more and you were just wasting ammo.

I think that part of the problem is that the A.I., once they acquire the target, "lead" the target perfectly as it is on the move.

Even if you are on a full run or flying by in a helo, a machinegunner will perfectly anticipate where you will be when his rounds get to you.

In real life, the rather "green" OPFOR troops of Grenada had trouble correctly leading a slow-flying C-130. They shot up the tails of the birds, but few rounds (if any) hurt the Ranger contents inside. This was when the C-130's were flying low over the airstrip within 300 meters, I think.

In real life, correctly leading a flying vehicle is a rather general thing... what is it? like 1 football field in front of a speeding helo and 2 football fields in front of a jet? How many people can eyeball how long a football field is in front of distant jet?

In v1.91 it's suitable enough. I think the SEB Nam Pack tweaked its weapons so that they would be less accurate all around. The result is that you have a lot of lead flying through the air and not hitting its target, a pretty realistic result for a Vietnam mod.

Some observations:

First of all, OFP AI MGers never fire in bursts. They fire single shots, with the delay between each shot depending on 1) distance to target and 2) their skill. (You can notice this in other AI firing behaviour as well, such as the M2A2 when it advances on a target.) A better solution would be to have the AI MGers fire a random-length (6-9) burst of full auto. Skill should IMHO only benefit accuracy, not rate of fire. Hell, even I can pull a trigger.

Second, AI skill doesn't actually seem to have any great influence on the accuracy at all. Once they've got you in your sights there's IMHO too little difference between a recruit and a veteran. To make matters worse, the AI does an extremely good job at leading a moving target - even at considerable range.

What this means is that engagements in OFP are over in the blink of an eye. Going prone is actually a Bad Thing - you're effectively a stationary target and the AI will hit you anyway without breaking a sweat.

Edit:

Didn't see the reply from Uziyahu - sounds like I gotta try the SEB Nam Pack. BTW, is there any change in AI accuracy between 1.90 and 1.91?

first of all thanks for the reply

second i want to be more specific about the topic:

Ok... now i am making missions that the enemy is no more than 20 meters away from you... and it really BAD that when i try to kill a squad of only 4 men i only survive for 3 secs...

when an enemy is behinde a wall and i pass next 2 him he shoots at the sec. he see me (he dosent even have reaction time.. just like a robot... not like human)

p.s. I use mid. AI and Less (but when i use less then mid. the computer just act stupid)

I dont think you can really moan and cry about the AI's accuracy. Its a freaking computer game and you cant just make it like real life. I mean, look at your computer screen, you will notice that you only get about a 80 degree view, while in real life, its about 130. Shooting weapons is different too, instead of have a weapon in your hand, you got a mouse or joystick that you click to shoot. The accuracy won't change in this game, but I bet that the next couple games will show far better targeting, movement, and behavior for the AI. You will just have to live with the AI's "godlike" aiming untill OFP 2 or whatever is next.

And you might want to disable super AI, if it is on that is. It makes the AI far more retarded. smile.gif

You can edit the characteristics for all the weapons and make yourself a little addon smile.gif

But it takes time if you have'nt done it before. I'm just learning and it took me 10 hours from start to finish with the Beretta (that is included the time to find the correct files).

hummmmm hell no! biggrin.gif In real life if you tried to run across a open field you would be shot if I had the gun. I used to shoot groundhogs on the run back to their hole. Most of the time it was around 100yds or more. I only did that for like 4 years when i was a kid (11to15), so I know a trained solider can nail you easy. Now all I get to do is go to the gun range with my hg. and sometimes go out with friends and shoot with AKs, 223's, and some other guns. I dont have time to go up North and hunt anymore sad.gif So please dont kill it for the rest of us that can play good.
