Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted February 4, 2003 AN UPCOMING PROBLEM ALL OF US WILL HAVE TO FACE I would like to discuss what is going to happen to this forum one day! As you might know this forum concentrates on OPERATION FLASHPOINT 1985. What will happen once OPERATION FLASHPOINT is out of fashion? Or what will happen if Operation Flashpoint 2 comes out? What will happen....or better...what should happen to our accounts? Should we be able to transfer out post-counts? Should this forum simply become a Codemasters forum? I love this place and I dont want to loose it...maybe a constructive brainstorm will help us and Codemasters to one day find a new old home for us!
FSPilot 0 Posted February 4, 2003 Why would we transfer our post counts? They don't matter that much if at all.
Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted February 4, 2003 A community is a very important Marketing tool. Codemasters had a very weak starting with OFP (as far as Marketing is concerned) so I guess they learned their lesson. If u believe it or not but we are important start-up potential for new Codemasters games
Renagade 0 Posted February 4, 2003 Isn`t this bis`s forums?? My guess is the mods will break and close even more topics then the forum will stagnate and die
Tex -USMC- 0 Posted February 4, 2003 Notwithstanding the paranoid and delusional among us *cough*, I really enjoy the conversation here, and I'd be sad to see it go. However, since this is a BIS forum, I would imagine that they would just transform it into an OFP2 forum. Wouldn't be too hard, just clean out some of the older accounts, add a 2 to the header, and change the layout a bit. No sweat.
Warin 0 Posted February 4, 2003 I agree with Tex. Â If/When there are more Flashpoint products, they'll just get added to these forums. Â Like with Resistance, they will have their own seperate sections until they integrate into the main forums. Please Note: This is my opinion. Â It is not representative of what BIS might thing, or what may or may not have any relationship to the eventual realities
theavonlady 2 Posted February 5, 2003 When Independence Lost comes out, I expect the forums will be right here. There may be full set of new subforums, especially if they've totally redone the game and graphics engine. Why fix something that's not broken?

They don't matter that much if at all.<span id='postcolor'> i can accomodate to make yours and Avon's to zero right now too. back on topic. whatever BIS decides, i'm sure they are listening and cosider our voices too. for future product release(if there is) depending on how different commands are, and engine is i think we'll see some sort of change. if mission editting is similar/same, then i see no reason not to keep some part here. ale2999 0 Posted February 5, 2003 I bet all ofp releted stuff will go under one section/directory and they will make new sections for the new products. hip hip hurray for new product
WhoCares 0 Posted February 5, 2003 It would generate a lot of confusion and misunderstandings when they would mix up the technical parts (Troubleshooting, MP, Editing...). So for those sections they should have a completely new forum, while News, General and Off-Topic could be linked here. Seeing how many topics are posted in the wrong sections today, with just one product...
zverushka 0 Posted February 5, 2003 There are many forums I know in which when the game died out, the forum still lived.

Jester983 0 Posted February 6, 2003 THis is how i see it. lets say OFP does lose popularity. And this forum goes downhill. We will remeber those who we talked to...Our friends...Our enemies...(not sure if anyone has any...) but most of all we will remeber the good times. After we say our good byes and leave. Things will be slow. until we start hearing with OFP gone CS rules the gaming community. We hear this and RELEASE ALL HELL! WE come back in force! with our m16s ak74s abrams, Commanches.. And we Crush the CS community. We prove to everyone that we as a community will never let OFP die. I really think OFP is nowhere close to dieing. If it does start hinting it then we will have to go out and advertise since codemasters doesnt seem to want too. I for one will not let OFP die. NOr should any of you.. cam0flage 0 Posted February 6, 2003 How about this; CM/BIS go bankrupt and the forum is closed when nobody is there to pay the server costs?
