S-Video + OFP + TV = Lots of FUN!

I did this on one weekend and it was lots and LOTS of fun. You wouldn't happen to know how to connect the sound to the TV so the TV plays sound, would you?

What I do is this;

If I am playing on my monitor ( and nobody is around in the house!wink.gif I have the front sound channeled to my on desk surround system/subwoofer, and the rear output I have linked to my TV.

I also have my TV connected to my HiFi amp and speakers, so you get a pretty realistic sounding battlefield in there.

Its incredble!

How to do it.

Does you TV have Phono sockets? If so, get a 3.5mm jack to phono converter long enough to reach.

If it doesnt have phono sockets, get a scart adapter and use that.

I have a SCART adapter that has SVHS and is switchable between INPUT/OUTPUT, so you can use it both ways, which is vital for recording back from VHS to PC.

You just plug the 3.5mm jack into the output of your soundcard, use lineout if you have it.

As for my rotorwash script, somebody asked about. Its done and its with the boss for release. I'll probably make a post to that effect when its out.

I am curious. What does a napalm bomb look like? Is it just like a Mk80-series bomb?

Think of a 40gallon drum with a tail at one end with fins and a rounded nose.

Frankly it looks nothing like napalm to me.. Napalm actually burns after the bombs explode.. but it is however good explotions.. its what explotions in ofp actually should be... but nape its not. confused.gif

Which is a point I have made, either here or somewhere else I was discussing it. I figured on getting the explosion right first and then making it look like Napalm.

However, I need more sources of info. I have plenty of mpgs/avis of napalm explosions, but none carry on to show the actual burn time.

What makes me wonder is that a big part of the effectiveness of Nape is that it burns the O2 in the air, thus suffocating troops and or vehicle engines, so that even if they avoid death/injury by the blast they make suffocate.

We all know nothing burns without O2 present, so I'm wondering how long the flames would actually burn before they burnt themselves out.

My guesstimate would be that the area at the centre of the blast would stop burning quickly, and that is why the "hedge hoppers" used to drop the canister in such a way as to spread the gel, maximising damage.

If anybody has any credible references or sources of info, especially pix, videos etc please pass them on.

The same goes for WP, share what you know and maybe we all benefit :o)

Thanks

TJ

It looks like a drop tank, only filled with napalm. there are no fins attatched so that the weapon starts tumbling on the way down; when it goes off this spreads the napalm over a wider area.

If it were detonated in a comfined space that would be true,

but in the open more air would simply rush in to take its place. if I remember right the air in the area around a naplam blast radius of about 50m) isn't really unbreathable as such, it's just that it's so hot that after the first breath your lungs are in no condition to process it.
