Battlefield 1985

Recommended Posts

There's the Battlefield 1985 multiplayer map that has become quite popular with many servers. Can anyone give me the author's email address and point me to a website where I can get the latest version of this map?

Hmm as far as i remember you can see the authors email in

the briefing of the mission at the end of the notes.

And it is really one of my favorite maps at the moment, i like

the respawn script he programmed. smile.gif

one thing i dont like about it tho is its a little too big, even with a full game it can get pretty slow, usually u find 1 guy defending each base 2 guys attacking and the rest at the airfield or pissin around.

Yeah, the mission is great. I have found the email already, but no website... so where can I get the latest version? I've seen a bunch of versions out there - 1.32, 1.33 and 1.34. What's the latest version? 1.34, or is there any newer?

Riverbattle is pretty nice too. Same people that made it I think.

The author is called Dax. I have some contact to him through the German/European ESL League.

I agree that Battlefield 1985 is one of the best maps ever for Operation Flashpoint.

One thing I want to point out is that there are quiet a number of so-called Battlefield 1985 maps out, which use the scripts of the original mission but are customized versions only. Many clans have changed a lot of the content but didn't even bother to rename it to something like [insertclantaghere]battlefield 1985.pbo. Because of this people have trouble to get back to the original maker of the map and are kinda confused in terms of version numbers.

For all of those, that wondered quiet a bit about which version is the latest one, I can say you that right now Battlefield 1985 v1.34 is the most up-to-date version made by the real-deal mapmaker.

Battlefield 1985 II and Riverbattle 1985 are most likely also third party conversions of the original concept, using the scripts etc.. but are not made by the author himself.

Yeah, there's almost never enough people to cover so many objectives. There's not even enough to fully load the vehicles with gunners, drivers & commanders, usually it's just people driving around on their own. Might be good for BIS to make a multiplayer vehicle control that works for 1 person, rather than needing 3 maybe? Drive with the arrow keys and point the gun with the mouse.

Ya, and why don't we add lasers and sparkles too an Abrams while were at it tounge.gif

it only takes 1 to really use a tank. (Tank not APC) Just stop fast, switch to gunner or commander. It's nice to have two guys, but then the gunner has to do a lot of the targeting. Three people is nice, but rarely used. So basically, you can use tanks with any number of people.

What do you mean even in a full server it's slow? 15 on 15 is wayyy more than enough to have an intresting game at mostly every place.

The only ones that don't get too hot are Osterwalt and Heitlengieng (Can't remember the name tounge.gif ) But The Factory, Airfield, Mirov, and Modrava get exciting.

i was in a 15 vs 15 an ahour long game, when it started tthe first 5mins were good i got 3 ppl with my shilta, then it sorta slowed down, still too many objectives for 15 v 15 ofps maps a massive and after 30mins the number of players is almost halfed. Needs to be a smaller verson much much closer together, the rts and cti maps make up for this with ai squads but in them u dont have areas to hold usually.

I haven't played if, but from what i read, its a pretty big C&H map. Is there anything else that's special about it.

No, not really - a good respawn script that allows you to choose your weapon loadout while waiting to respawn, an option to select any town occupied by your troops as respawn point, and a good mission layout. It's plain fun with 20+ people, although it sucks big time with less.
