And since the majority of the fighting force is Poor and Middle Class, maybe Congress would be less gung-ho if some of THEIR sons were out there. We do have "Selective Service" which can be used in that fashion. All males 18 and over have to be registered. And as for they guy who wished a "Vietnam-like" war, fuck him very much too. Vietnam didn't just kill American soldiers but devestated Vietnam. So basically he is wishing for American soldiers to die and innocent civilians to be massacred. But if Bush had enough evidence or whatever he had to convince congress, it must have been a good enough reason. As far as oil, every American doesn't give a damn about that. But as my Global Studies teacher says... "It's all about the money". We are fighting them for a reason, why Bush doesn't really want to say or why UN Inspectors aren't going to the right places I don't care about. But there is a reason for it. And who wouldn't want a little on the side? How do you Europeans not understand how to pick your fights? I have high respect for Colin Powell. Actually, I take back what I said about Bush. I don't think he is a warmonger - I think he is a puppet. The real warmongers are Cheney and Rumsfeld. The incoherence in the US Mid East policy is a very clear sign of a weak president. As for the senate - a republican majority that support a republican administration in combination with post september 11th hysteria. It's also a quite new translation. I am pretty sure that the original word is "kill" They propably did not even have seperate words for murder and kill when Moses received the commandments.
