Scale modeling and ofp:r

Hey I've been working on this over the weekend and i thought i might show it here Its a T-55 which ive painted (or as close as i could get it) as a T-55 the FIA uses Though its not the exact same model it is a T-55 and whose to say the FIA wouldnt have a few of this type of T-55 running around

Its a trumpetee r Model (The manual is stupid) I followed the instuction sheet in assembling the Dshk mount only to find out that they had me install the cradle which holds the actual gun upside down when i looked through some websites to find the colours of the Rubberized Canvas Gun cover But oh well .... Mb my next project will be a M113 or some thing else OFP related Note that it isnt finished yet

Isnt that a rifle? What scale would that be?

Btw does anyone have any real experience around tanks of this type? I've been looking on the net at pictures of tracks and all you find is black and white (no good cus i cant see what colour) or tanks who have been out of service for quite some while. The last ones ussually have nicely painted tracks or very very heavily corroded ones. So if someone has some pics of one in active service

textures are too dark. better use less darkish colors in your paa file.

If you want to really get realistic with the model, check out some hobby shops and look at some of the paints that are out there.

They have paints that create rust, corrosion, mud, ect, ect.

You should paint the tracks with some mud, and some rust, and mix up some paint to simulate bare metal on the "pads" of the treads, and other parts that are subject to wear from contact with the ground, and other metal parts.

Years ago, I used to build alot of models.

I would build WWII fighters with oil/smoke stains streaking from the cowling, different shades on some body panels (where bullet holes had been patched), bare metal spots on the leading edges of the wings, ect, ect.... and I would heat up a small metal punch red hot...and push it through to make bullet holes.

Spend alot of time on your models, and dont rush.

I've gotten the modelling urge lately. I have on order three WWII German tanks, and just to balance that out, an M4 Sherman. If they dont totally suck when I am done, I'll post pictures of them!

it would be completely out of wood. no moving parts and maybe a little metal. i think there is no law against something like that on the whole planet!

i need the right tools before i start. and the raw materials, too.

I used to play warhhammer 40k ages ago but had to stop becuase it was hard to find an opponent plus the models were a bit of a rip-off too also the made the game simpler for newbies in the last update a bit like CS

My painting skills were mediocre though, so my models didnt look nearly as good as yours

I had to stop playing because it just got too expensive. I started as Orcs, but wanted to change over to Imperial Guard, but then it just was starting to cost too much.

I recently made a huge Tiger tank, It costed 160 dollars, plus more for the airbrush. It looks amazing, except for a little spot on the side of the turret where a piece wasnt held too well together, and I had to glue it. The glue dripped off a bit. The entire tank took me 2 weeks to complete. It looks great, too bad i dont hav a digital camera to show it.

really??

lol it would look quite silly if i'd paint my gun's barrel orange because i didn't want to paint it at all, so that it really looks home-made!

and i never wantet to walk around with it on the street.

BTW i'm thinking about makink a SKS carabine instead of a M14. i like the idea of a folding bajonet and it is more challenging to create one.

i know. in the time of big masscres and people who snipe innocent people some folks could missunderstand such situations. i'm not a person who likes to walk around with a rifle in the hands. and everybody would easily tell it's a "dummy"-rifle. wooden, stock, wooden barrel, and even a wooden bajonett, if i chose to make a SKS. and it will stay wooden, i won't paint it! and it will stay at my home, in my room. i know some people who already have some real rifles which have been made usles on their walls and those people are responsible adults who perfectly know about weapon laws.

I've got reliable sources in Airsoft communities.

Even an airsoft club selling airsoft replica's got mopped up by a Dutch SWAT team.
