Yeah, alot of action movies aren't to good with the weapons. I once saw a bad porno movie (it had a 'plot' ) where some chick holds onto a Glock with her laft hand wrapped around the barrel.  wow.gif

I would like to see her try and do that on a range for real.  tounge.gif

Pure instinct, I bet. Old habits die hard...

If she has tight grip and weights less than 10 kilo she will transform into the human projectile.

Duke would say : "Who wants some ?" biggrin.gif

Anyways, I see that some movies have miniguns, and I read somewhere that in Terminator 2 they "rented" a minigun from somewhere and fired off blanks during the minigun segment, is this true? If it is then it is true that ppl can hold and fire a minigun and have the battery and everything!

Probably, but the extreme rate of fire for the Gatling gun would use up the ammo supply in the backpack in about 2 seconds.

They fired blanks which have no recoil, with live rounds control would be impossible. Not to mention the extreme weight of the system. If man packed gatling guns were at all effective they would be used by the army, but they aren't.

I heard that the Army rejected the M134 hand held because it weighted 40 kilos with everything, like the batttery and ammo. I wouldnt believe there would too much recoil, it has a 5.56 round. Not sure tho, but the M134 was rejected for its weight, didnt hear anything about the recoil being involved.

wow.gifwow.gifwow.gif

I can see why they rejected it.

That + personal kit would be WAY too much to carry. I wouldn't want to be caught dead with that thing.

They used flamethrowers in every major war except desert storm, because they were outlawed by the UN along with napalm I think.

You guys are forgetting a major factor.

This isn't just a person, not just an actor, this is... THE TERMINATOR...

The blanks would still produce a good amount of recoil, especially with a multi-barreled weapon capable of a high rate of fire.

Blanks produce quite a bit of volume of gas from the propellant (which is why blanks are used to fire rifle grenades), and that would all vent out the end of the barrel.

The 5.56 NATO and 7.62 NATO blanks we use in Canada are meant strictly for cycling the action. There is just enough propellant to do so, whatever is left passes by the BFA (blank firing attachment) and out the barrel in all directions. The only felt 'recoil' by the shooter is the action moving back and forth.

Rifle grenades are a thing of the past, modern blanks are used to make training more realistic.

That's why Arnie didn't go flying back on his ass when he fired out the window in T2:JD.

Assault (CAN), the difference is that miniguns aren't gas-operated, and that there wouldn't be a BFA. All of the gases from a gun firing at a rate of 1,000 to 10,000 RPM (in the case of the M-134) would definitely produce significant recoil.

I know, it's driven by an electric motor.

Even without a BFA blanks don't produce recoil. If you shake a blank you can hear the powder go from one side of the casing to another.

Since the gun weighs quite a bit, the weight would cancel out any recoil from the blanks. The biggest problem in controling the weapon would probably be the gyroscopic forces enacted on the gun by the spinning barrels. Unless there is some kind of system in the gun to counter it.

Are we sure the mini gun even used blanks? Gas and spark plugs will make the same light show and almost no recoil. Airwolf's cannons come to mind. I wonder if arnies mini gun is the same one on preditor and kurt russel's ,Soldier?

Many movie guns I've seen had weird gut's in them to fire blanks that won't fit in any other real gun. Kinda like breaking down an airsoft. You can find the guns on ebay from time to time, but without the guts that allows it to fire.

That looks like a Desert Eagle, if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah, it says the name right on the gun.
