For regular work I usually go for an M16 w/4 mags, plus 3 LAWs. I don't use handguns, but would pick an automatic if I had to. Binoculars. NVGs if necessary.

M16, 6 mags, 2 frag. grenades, LAW+1 rocket

I'm sick about realism. Whenever I design/play a mission I cannot stand LAW/RPG with more than one rocket. It's not reloadable in the first place and it's retarded that one LAW guy with 4 rockets can annihilate 4 BMPs without any trouble. Sort of defies putting armor in game in the first place.

I like the G36/Steyr very much too, but the classic M16 vs AK firefight is still the best. Using iron sights with no zoomed scope is pure man+iron (ok and some plastic here and there)

Sounds a little too much like a gay porno for me lol

SVD with as many mags as I can carry, NVG's if needed. RPG with at least one round, two if I think I can spare the SVD ammo, and a Skorpion. In multiplayer I carry a couple of smoke shells. Those things are great for relocating if you are sniping and the enemy spots you.

West: Steyr-Aug, LAW, 2 rockets, 2 satchel charges, extra ammo.

East: Bizon, RPG, 2 rockets, 2 satchel charges, binocs, extra ammo.

If I'm in a tank mission I like to take some sandwiches and a thermos of hot tea. I also take my list of McDonalds drive-thrus :-)

I agree, but its how the game works with a hitpoint system instead of a real armor penetration coding.

And to add to my earlier post I've been using alot of the Heavy Grenidier Loadouts online and loving it smile.gif

I like smokeshells too in MP.

I have a co op called Airwing. It s all about airstrikes.

First thing i always do is take a red and a green smokeshell, if i crash i can mark my pickupzone safe or hot.

Damn, i always get a kick about crashing, marking my location on the map, hiding in the woods till someone has time to pick me up, then poping the smoke if you hear the chopper come.

mmmmmh, think i ll fire the old airwing up again tonight.

I did that once and the admin told me I was lagging the server.

The other day, I was in a mission where we are next to ammo boxes and there's many guys running around the woods, and I picked up some mortars, and I must say, those put them ruskies into a world of hurt. I wiped out 5 or 6 with one hit, boom, dead.

Then when I ran out of mortars, I switched to the west heavy grenade launcher. There again, standing next to an ammo box, just pumping in grenades into whole squads was so much fun. I'd shoot one round and adjust fire, and then bloop of like 8 or 9 in a row, major world of pain.

I like to play specops missions , so i am very friend with the MP5-SD , i play with the default Blak Ops loadout : 3 satchels. I have a preference for the BlackOps over the Spetznatz , certainly because i dont like the bandana of the east unit wink.gif .

I enjoy a lot too when i find myself in the sniper role , the Dragunov is more powerfull and easy to use in my opinion than the M21, but because i like to take my time in that role, my choice is for the M21 and its progressive zoom , this with full ammo despite its lack of power (you have to aim at the head more carefully than with the Dragunov).

In the air , my preference is for the west vehicle (AH64 my favorite) , they are very responsive to commands , east air vehicle are too heavy and slow when you have to move quick with extreme precision , their advantage are of course their lot of weapon aboard and their resistance , but i prefer Hellfire precision over AT-6 behavior

If i have to choose in the soldier class , i am for mortar with M16 (i try to take 4 mortar instead of the default 3 if i can) , i dont like the heavy grenadier role , their weapons are too powerfull and not much fun for my taste .

The other times, i try to be a M60 or PK machingunner with full ammo (when you have understood how to aim with those heavy guns, you can have lot of fun and you can really be very dangerous if you find a good spot to go prone )

LAW and RPG are not for me, i use them only if there is heavy armor near my position and no allied soldier with those weapons around.

Too bad that isn't possible IRL, but it's nice to think so. wink.gif

It would probably take anywhere from 4 to 10 RPG's to even disbale a tank like the T-72. With ERA, this becomes even harder.

I think it would be better to increase the armour value in OFP, that way it would make teamwork more important. You would have to assault a tank with a few other RPG soldiers in your section. A section of men, taking on (and destroying) a platoon of Russian tanks is simply unrealistic. Hit and run tactics apply here. Too bad you can't take off a tanks' track in OFP, that would be cool.

As for the M-21 vs. Dragunov debate, if the power of the 7.62x51 round from the M-21 was increased, it would be better. Personally, I like the uncluttered scope of the M-21 better than the Dragunov, though it has taken me alot of practice to become profecient with it.

I think the best feature of the M21 scope is the fact that the magnification is variable. In contrast, it is a real pain to try to hit close-in targets that are rushing you with the Dragunov because there is too much magnification.

heh, that's kind of Ironic. I prefer the SVD when I'm expecting to engage the enemy at close to medium ranges as well as long range, since I don't need to recalibrate the scope. I like the M-21 better if I know I will be fighting strictly at longer ranges. It just takes too long to recalibrate the scope when engaging enemies at various distances IMHO.

You generally don't need to calibrate the scope if you are going for a center-of-mass (torso) shot.

You're right, but I usually aim for the head. That way I can be sure one shot will do it. Of course though, if he's got a bead on me and every split second counts, i'll take any shot I get smile.gif

I try to go for the Realist grunt... so as the situation dictates. If I' am suposed to be a support, I grab up a 60.. if I need to be point man, i'll take a pair of B-nocks and an XM for auto fire. I try not to go for the Super commando look. Everyone trys to be the super hero with some sort of Scoped Rifle and a LAW.

In MP (Captre the Flag, TDM or DM):

G36 (10 mags) + Binoculars

or

G36 (6 mags) + LAW Launcher (2 rockets) + Binoculars

In SP or in COOP:

West:

M21 (4 mags) + LAW Launcher (3 rockets)

G36 (4 mags) + LAW Launcher (3 rockets) + Binoculars

M16 (4mags) + LAW Launcher (3 rockets) + Binoculars

HK (4 mags) + 3 Satchel charges + Binoculars + NV

East:

SVD Dragunov (6 mags) + RPG Launcher (2 rockets)

Bizon (4 mags) + RPG Launcher (3 rockets) + Binoculars

AK74 (4 mags) + RPG Launcher (3 rockets) + Binoculars

Bizon (4 mags) + 3 Satchel Charges + Binoculars + NV

IMO, West has far better weapons than East. My favourite weapons are G36, HK and M21. G36 is far more powerful than any soviet weapon. Bizon is great, but it's far less powerful than HK.

And a tip: Never leave without a rocket launcher.  wink.gif

I'm always a little cautious about taking rocket launchers.

Probably isn't good to have a big pole strapped to your back when you're trying to hide.

But if it were like BF42 we could just nade the tanks!

Dependant on terrain.

Generally:

M21, 5 magazines.

5 hand grenades.

CZ75, 5 magazines. (Virtually useless, but there is no reason not to grab one, unless you can't waste 3 seconds.)

Binoculars.

Night Vision Goggles. (Like the sidearm, there is no punishment for carrying them, and you never know when a skiptime script may come out of nowhere and bite you in the ass.)

Hand grenades are probably the most underestimated weapon in the game, and RPG launchers are not suited to my tactics. If I'm east and do not have access to a M21, I carry an AK74. Using double taps, you can usually kill an opponent at about 500 meters if you can see him (even if he's only 3 pixels tall). Seems like you can almost be more proficient at sniping people with the no-scope assault rifles, mainly because of their fast fire-up shot capability.

If I'm getting chased around by a tank, I can always just run to the nearest dead body and take an AT weapon from it, considering everyone and their mother carries a LAW now. On some servers (the ones with third person disabled), people even turn out. There has been more than one occassion where I have shot an APC driver moments before he would run me over.

I'd like to try out the Hunting Rifle in MP, which seems to be pretty powerful and dead-on at assault rifle ranges, while having just enough magnification to engage guys out to 600 meters. Normally it would not substitute for the double-tap capability of the AK (which usually never misses when used in this manner). The S&W revolver (686 I believe) also ups the anty in the sidearm role. Probably the only serious one in the game. I guess it will take a good month before people start implementing it in MP missions so it can get some use. The HK is also pretty good, as is the Bizon, but I like the HK better. Never gets much use, though, because of the nature of maps. The underbarrel-mounted grenade launchers are also very nice, but thanks to the (frankly) crappy slot system there is no point to using them anymore - RPGs have more range, are easier to aim, and pack more of a punch.

The weapons in resistance are blatantly low quality, the full auto rate of fire on the two new 7.62x51 NATO ARs is unrealistically high and the sounds are just lame. Pistols seem to be horribly underpowered and the Uzi sounds like something out of a sci-fi film (as well as the suppressed Glock now, too, which happens to have another easy-to-fix error which has been neglected despite the dozen of people reporting the incorrect magazine capacity) so I never use them. If BIS fixed a couple things (one of which I haven't seen anyone say anything about is the G3A4 sight - too blurry. I think the M60 sight is like this too, but I haven't used it recently enough to remember) I would probably use these guns more often.

(end rant)

Dan

I agree with you DanAK47

Grenade rounds should take up 1 slot, more slots per person (just give us 40 slots to play with and we'll be happy smile.gif ), G3, FAL, AUG, G36 all need the ROF down a bit, about the same as the XM177, some a bit higher, some abit lower (XM is 750rpm, so G3 and FAL need to be about 600rpm), Pistols need correct mag capacities. G3, UZI and FAL need better sounds and all the pistols inc Mac and the Skorpion. G3 and FAL pictures still need swapping and FAL is wrong in full auto, they have called it "FALL full auto"

A couple of questions though.

1. Has the and Steyr and G36 damage been lowered to about th same as the M16?

2. Do the 7.62 weapons do more damage now, apart from AK47.

The only reason i dont use the G3 and FAL more often is because the ROF is too high, they sound rubbish and do too little damage.

mmm. Loadouts.

East

Long range: SVD+7, Tokarev, RPGnh75+1.

Normal: AK74+3, Binos, Tokarev, RPGnh75+3.

Close range: Bizon+7, Tokarev, RPGnh75+1.

West

Long range M21+5, Beretta, LAW+2

Normal G36+3, Beretta, LAW+3

Close range G36+9, Scorpion.

Sure, its not the most realistic approach to equipment. But it works. The RPGs depend on if there's vehicles around. If there isn't I'll just take one in case I need to just flatten an area.
