the_mau5e 10 Posted February 15, 2016 This is my idea of merging real company ideas with the virtual world of Arma I want to express this only as an idea, not a demand. I feel that corporations that specialise in military technologies that are both emerging and contractors should consider adding their projects or prototypes (not classified) to the Arma mod collection. I believe that this is both beneficial for the community and companies. Arma as many of us know is a platform that allows almost limitless possibilities to take place in the virtual world. I personally believe that this could be beneficial for companies as they can test their projects in a virtual environment that allows them to test accurately and also allow the community to test it in-game. Please support my idea and turn it into something amazing. Regards TheMau5e
Eaazeho 0 Posted February 15, 2016 Great Idea, but do you have any examples? Would love to know what type of things to expect from this.
ineptaphid 6413 Posted February 15, 2016 Please support my idea and turn it into something amazing. What exactly is it you want people to do to support your idea? I imagine this is not something people can help with-if you want to open Arma up to a kind of virtual weapon testing range, then that would be something for BIS and the various companies to agree on.And there would need to be dramatic engine changes made to allow proper testing to be done. This does not really seem like the aim of Arma-especially when BIS already run VBS to train real world militarys etc. Interesting thought though. Have you any more information about it? ventu121 20 Posted February 16, 2016 Yeah it could be: in a closed community. ArmA and its mods are accessible to anyone who buy the game, even to bad people. I think it is better to keep it the way it is. Me too would love to play VBS or any other military trainer simulator and I agree with you that a bigger community wuold improve both ArmA 3 and military trainiers, but it is too dangerous in my idea.Anyway BIS should improve the ArmA engine expecially for vehicles. The only thing I could suggest is military team training against selected ArmA gruoups. We all know the most mil-sims groups are playing with real-world tactics and most of present tactics are on the clean and dark net; so why not having military versus ArmA teams on VBS facing each other? Not just competition but a real mission with human enemies that thinks different form an IA. Like ineptaphid said that would be something for BIS and the various companies to agree on: a closed community.

That's what I am wondering too-how does us "supporting" this help? What would need to happen would be for BI and several large munitions producers to agree that Arma would become a part of their weapon testing process -and I don't think BI ever designed Arma for that purpose. I don't believe it would give the feedback necessary either. Even when that guy tried to break the worlds longest sniper kill using Arma,he had to install ACE and other mods to account for things that Arma does not have-Coriolis effect, air pressure, windage etc.. Turning this into a real world weapon diagnostic system would require a complete teardown of Arma's systems and most likely alienation of it's audience. war_lord 934 Posted February 20, 2016 To put the final nail in the coffin, the western military defense sector is dominated by America. The American defense industry is dominated by the same group that dominates the upper echelons of it's military, older (at least 40's) white Republicans. Which are a group that tends to see video games as either a toy for children at best, or technological heroin at worst. (basically the "NutnFancy" attitude).
