Ambient animals behaviour completely broken

Hey I know it's a military simulator but from an immersion point of view having a bit of wildlife around really helps. For the last month or so on dev builds (and maybe on the latest stable but I can't confirm), nearly all land based ambient animals are basically useless statues. Snakes, chickens, dogs, goats, all just stand immobile. The only exception is sheep, which now run full speed everywhere, never stopping. Marine life, birds and insect seem ok. It doesn't matter whether animals are spawned through scripting or modules.

I'm guessing something is awry with animal FSMs.

I posted a heads up in the dev branch discussion which was completely ignored, and likewise raised a ticket on the feedback tracker which attracted a similar amount of developer attention.

If any devs or FSM experts would like to comment on ways to overcome this annoying new animal behaviour I'd be very grateful.

One of those things which need more love from BI. I'm still waiting for wolves, doe, wild boars etc.

Thanks R3vo, these illustrate it perfectly.

Really hoping this gets sorted out, it's a pretty bad regression.

Things are just going from bad to worse. As of dev build 130139 the goats and sheep are invisible! They cast a shadow but that's it.

On the other hand, the pigs have been invisible since the beginning. They're the integral part of the battlefield clearance system.

Gotta bump my own thread to keep up the whinging. I'd hoped that with the DLC released the devs could have a look into this.

  • Ambient behaviours still broken for most animals
  • Goats and sheep are still invisible
  • There's now a plague of rabbits!

As of today I have invisible sheep. Shadows and bleeting noises are there, but sheep models are invisible?

Didn't change any addons from the last time I played til today.

Next I want them to randomly attack people. Just saying.
