cybrid 0 Posted October 1, 2002 Thats funny considering how many blonde people live in my area, its not at all proportionate to the rest of the country. I guess thats because almost everyone around here in Central Ontario (Canada) has a German heritage. That would also explain why I have to drive all the way to Toronto to get some good sea food. All> if blonde chicks is what you want, then come to central Ontario, where the largest city in the area was formerly Berlin. If blond is recessive you will still be brunette if you have a combination of blonde/brunette. To be blonde you have to inherit the hair color from both parents! Still, brunette parents who still ahve the recessive gene might well have blonde children - the probability is just lower. A: brunette B: blonde father (AB) * mother (AB) ---> child (AA) brunette ---> child (AB) brunette ---> child (BA) brunette ---> child (BB) blonde So in 75% of the cases the child will be brunette. On the other hand, in 75% of the cases it will also be able to have blonde children himself. Let's call the dominant brown hair gene B and the recessive blond hair gene b. Thus people who are either BB, Bb or bB are all brown haired, whereas only bb people are blondes. Now let's assume that two brown haired Bb people mate to produce offspring. Since kids randomly get one of the genes from both parents, the offspring produced can be BB, Bb, bB or bb. Thus there is a 1/4 chance of producing blonde offspring.<span id='postcolor'> guess we're a BB-Bb-bB-bb-couple, since we have a blond, blue-eyed son. While your parents may both have brown hair it does not mean they do not carry the blonde recessive gene which they both passed to your sister, hence why see is blonde.
