Multiplay in ofp2

I want to play the new games, but while doing so I keep thinking about OFP's gameplay. It's like pining for an old girlfriend and you end up playing OFP again. OFP has LAN play and great singleplayer missions/mods. BF and other games like it have no real AI to speak of. There is also no way to command them so the play is HIGHLY dependant on those you play with. Also I can't stand how lag can affect gameplay and although this is also true with OFP, those other games REQUIRE other players so you must deal with the lag and the lack of control.

One other thing about realism. People are WRONG when they say that realistic games are harder than those of the arcade variety. This could not be furthur from the truth. Realistic games are easier and here's why. UT2003 went to a more "skilled" gameplay due to the effects of weapons that spammed. No more easy kills by throwing flak everywhere, BUT they removed the pistol and replaced it with a rifle that is almost useless. Did the pistol spam? No it did not but what it did do was enable a player to score a kill without having to "find" a better weapon. Having the ability to do this and shoot without knowing the game engine and map inside out (not aim) is what they wanted to stop. The developers of UT wanted to cater to the hardcore by making the game more of a master the map, find the better weapon, and jump while shooting gameplay which is what made Quake famous. Now we would all agree that this is not realistic gameplay but it is gameplay that would be hard for a player, that does not play/practice everyday, to be proficient at. This is why realistic games are easier: no matter how well you jump, what weapon you have (you usually do not have to find weapons on a battlefield before going into battle), or you knowledge of the map, you still can not stop a bullet. If someone has you in their sights you will perish. The hardcore hate this. Games like OFP do not require "twitch" skills, and neither does real life.

We've got a guy from Aus in our squad, and he handles it just fine<span id='postcolor'>

Aus get far better connections than NZ they out ping us on our own servers, i play 60$ a month for adsl and the best ping it get now to overseas servers is 800ms.

that suks m8. I think u should start advertising ofp around: (this is not a joke, it might actually work) Make a brochure of ofp and right all the characteristic of the games and give it out to ppl (if u want to overdoit u could give out the demos 2). they might give it a shot. If it doesnt work, go to where the closest police/army barraks are. They love hardcore 4 sure!
