"Sir Greenspan" is incorrect, because he's a foreigner he cannot use the Sir title and instead may use KBE after his name, it's all in the article if you'd read that far smile.gif

Wow, I didn't know that Bob Hope was knighted.

I wonder if George Bush junior will get knighted, just like his dad.

Knighthoods are only given for beneficial service to the UK and the Crown.

Therefore one would think it extremely unlikely...... (Thank God)

Rudy without a shadow of a doubt deserved it IMO for the way he dealt with the aftermath of 11/09.

Ronnie 'raper' Reagan and Bush got it because of certain fuckwit tory leaders.

Bob Hope is a legend in the entertainment world and rightly deserves one.

As for 'Stormin' Norman, I dunno, never paid that much attention to him or his career, I would imagine it dates back to Gulf War part 1, thus it would be another tory decision.

its pretty much a "bunch of crap" at the level mr greenspan is at (Honorary KBE) being a foreigner thats as high as you can get, but higher up some of the orders to have priveledges and stuff that go with them there are a fair few:

The Order of the Garter

The Order of the Thistle

The Order of the Bath

The Order of St Michael and St George

The Royal Victorian Order

The Order of Merit

The Imperial Service Order

The Order of the British Empire

The Order of the Companions of Honour

There is also one appointment:

Knight Bachelor

Can women get knighted? If so, are they still called "Sir" or is there another title given to them?

As far as I know its a man only thing, but feel free to correct me. If it is a man only thing, then it must be changed!

Knight hood is nothing more than a title really.

I think I got it! Lady, I think a women can be made Lady blablabla which is basically the same as a Sir. I might be wrong though.

There are definitely no female Sirs, afaik the equivalent for a female is Dame, but I'm not 100% sure, dictionary.com describes a Dame as ....

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Chiefly British.

A woman holding a nonhereditary title conferred by a sovereign in recognition of personal merit or service to the country.

The wife or widow of a knight. <span id='postcolor'>

Thats the word! Dame. I think people out side of Britain can be made a Dame because there is this terrible NZ women singer who is a dame.
