Mine namespace - cannot setVariable to a planted mine

I'm trying to develop my old script http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?170825-Uav-Marker-Script so UGVs could detect mines. However it seems that its impossible to setVariable to a planted mine/explosive. Is this intended?

Storing data and timestamp in objects namespace is how my script works.

Any ideas of creating an invisible object at mines position so it could store some data or other workaround?

Strange how you can't set variables in the mine's namespace. That could be worth a ticket on the FT. For now, why not use a mission namespace array that contains all of the mines?

The mines once laid are ammunition so I think that's why you can't add variables to them (as they are not true objects compared to anything from CfgVehicles).

Same if you wanted to add an EH to them.

As DE said, either save indexed data to an array in a space of your choosing, or spawn logics/objects on each mine that you can assign a variable to. I would probably go for the former, which is harder to set up and work with imo but doesn't spawn X amount of extra objects.

Yea mines are a bit weird. Can't add existing mines to curatorEditableObjects using an Objects array (allMissionObjects) which is a PITA.

Some have different properties than others. For instance some can be grabbed in the nearObjects array, such as ATMine, but others can't, such as SLAMDirectionalMine. Haven't looked into it much, just shrug and move on to some other task.

Hey not sure if this will help or not but I was working on a dog script and one of the functions is that when you take control of the dog it will show you all explosive within 200m like the dog "smells" them.
