Islamic State & Guerrilla Units Pack

No MEC mod doesnt have all those.

It has Syrian army and some kind of meh factions.

But it uses NATO sf weapons and currently is in a pretty broken state last time I checked.

ie : Doing Iraqi army, Peshmerga and Syrians etc etc is a valid idea

Any word on how well these either of the factions work in ALiVE? I have some aggression I need to work out :)

Factions: OPF_G_F (for IS) and IND_G_F (for Guerrilla)

Put them in your Military Placement module as documented here: http://alivemod.com/wiki/index.php/Military_Placement

Do note we havent added groups for the faction yet. That might be why the group placement of alive might not be working atm.

I also added the classlist to the OP.

We will add a classlist.txt in the next update.

Mh weird. We don't know of any confilcts and their shouldn't be any. We dont have own factions atm so they are under FIA (for Opfor and Indp.).

Also check if you have all the reqs.

As you might guess I am looking into a replacement for the CAF AKs ;).

On another note, what would you guys say about adding the Peshmerga as an independent force?

Also, we are working on a new set of IS camo as well as faction names for both units right now!

The HLC AK pack is in my eyes pure weapon-porn and I would love to see a faction using them. And Peshmerga would be awesome.

I wonder why you chose to use the MX rifles for the guerilla though, that feels like an immerison breaker more than using lackluster weapons in some cases.

This is in kinda bad taste.

I gotta agree with this guy. Don't get me wrong : I love realism, I love to play with real factions and this mod barely affects me. But this is about present stuff, I mean really really recent and ongoing stuff.

We just received approval from ASDG Joint Rails, expect HLC in the next update for both factions.

When I first made the guerrillas I intended them not to use too many dependencies (they only use STI actually), so I wanted to keep it core, but yeah, they will receive weapon update in the next patch! :)

u think Arma 1 & Arma 2 were based on conflicts happened 100 years ago ?

Islamic State (formerly known as al Queda) has been assembled in 2005 how could they be recent ? oO

Anyone pump out any missions or working on any with The IS usits? Please direct me to them from here? So awesome that we have IS units, now. I've been watching all their propaganda videos. They have a crazy media department. I never been motivated to really mess with the editor even though I have been playing since OFP was released day one. But I really would love some missions playing as these units. No i'm not pro IS. But have always enjoyed playing the few missions were you play as the terrorist using guerilla tactics. There was a awesome mission in combined arms were you attack an american FOB. It was really intense. Wish I could remember the name....

Yeah I will do some mission based around this addon, but this will take a while, because I first want to focus on the development means the next 2 pacthes.

BTW to all mission makers. We will change the faction class for all units in this addon, means your missions with them might break.

We are trying release the update soon enough, for you guys, to fix your missions for possible events/operations on the weekend.

1.1 - First update!!!

## Completed ##

* HLC Core and AK pack added. Remade almost all of the loadouts to incorporate it. Most noteworthy from a gameplay POV is that the Guerrilla now use AKs and RPKs. The same goes for the AR of the IS. Thus removed STI as a requirement in the process. Sounds, visuals, gameplay and general immersion should now feel a lot better.

* Recieved permission by Robalo to bundle ASDG Joint Rails (a req for HLC, although actually not for the weapons we are using from the pack...), so as to make it easier for the end users. /* Thank you! */ Completed a first take on the bundling, which still looks a bit wonky though due to the one pbo nature of steam workshop.

* Created a group for all the units for their respective faction. Should work with MCC and Alive. // Coding groups in ArmA is exceptionally weird

* Added proper changelog and class list

* Some minor code tweaks/additions

## In Progress ##

* Hard at work on a complete retexture of the uniforms of the IS, using 3 versions of the ArmA 3 independent uniforms as a base. Once done, we should be able to remove AV IndUS as a requirement. // This really is a pain due to the digital camo applied to the textures

* Gathering ref to retexture and add some vehicles to the factions.

* Looking into the possibility of porting some content from ArmA 2, or some other solution to further reduce the number of dependencies (in this case CAF AG).

## Outside Dependencies: CAF AG, RH M4/16, AV IndUs, HLC Core, HLC AKs

## Known issues: Cfg reference error on startup for a checker function for ASDG Joint Rails. This doesn't seem to affect anything though. Will look for/make a fix after the weekend.

## Note: Duplicate active copies of ASDG JR work flawlessly.

Using this with my alive mission and works great. The units are fantastic with the new HLC weapons. Nice job. Any chance to add some vehicles? Just the offroads with gun on back would be awesome. Thanks.

This looks really cool, but the high number of dependencies puts me off using it for now - reducing the number of dependencies would be great, although I agree HLC is the shit and should be kept in if possible. Doesn't CAF require 2x hotfixes to work properly?

Currently there are 4 main dependencies (HTC can be counted as one) that have to be downloaded separately, and we tried to keep them among what is already commonly used among mod-users out there.

We will stick with HLC and RH M4s, but yeah, sti is now gone and CAF and AV IndUS are being phased out. So yeah, we are acutely aware of the situation :)

Also, very happy to receive confirmation that it works with Alive now! Can't multi quote from my phone, but you have my thanks.

These have been some hectic, but pretty awesome few days. For now both NIN3 and I are off for the weekend on our respective trips (back monday-tuesday), but I'll try to keep an eye out on the forums anyhow.

Regarding the vehicles. Check the changelog, it is coming ;)

CAF only needs an audio hot fix for their weapons I believe, but I don't think it affects our mod that much now

Freaking awesome! Just did a personal scenario to deliver supplies to stranded people in a mountain. Sporting the Mi-17 mod and putting IS groups along the way I tried to enact the video posted by an EU politician that went in a shopper ride to rescue people.

When does it become okay? Arma has simulated the Afghan war as bodies on both sides have been piling up over since Operation Arrowhead. What is the magic time line where things are okay to play? 3 weeks, 3 months, 3 years?

How is this mod any more offensive to anyone involved in the current political situation, then a Taliban mod is to someone who was involved in Afghanistan two years ago (or even present, since that conflict still goes on but nobody complains about the utter abundance of mods simulating it.)

I'm pretty grateful for this mod. Anyone who is an arma player getting squeamish over one conflict being portrayed over the other is quite silly in my opinion.

They have light AT ;). But yeah, have to find some proper models for the AA.
