(SMA) Specialist Military Arms

Recommended Posts

I did do some research into it as it peaked my interest, all the data I get from it comes from public sources from China and the values look stupidly over powered, I mean physics defying as far as bullets go, unless they have Mass Effect technology its just not gonna happen.

Their 71 grain FMJ (DBP-10) with a hardened steel core claims 3mm of RHA at 1000m thats better than our M80A1 bullet in 7.62x51mm NATO which is 147 grains going about the same velocity with a higher calculated ballistics coefficient, as I said their claims are most likely propaganda as the ballistics just do not match. Interestingly enough the DBP-10 bullet has some serious issues regarding wounding, it uses a hardened steel core so its not going to deform at all in a human body and its velocity will most likely cause a pass through, it also has a worse time tumbling than even the older 7.62x39mm Soviet rounds, over all it might have decent barrier penetration but other than that it sucks.

yea no worries Spartan and thank you..

I will sort something out that will work and be a bit weaker perhaps than your 556 as that sounds more like the way the chinese calibre would perform..

Its not a huge issue at least we will still have your ballistics on the 99% of our weapons.. :)

Well Blazenchamber you got lucky, I have some limited access to Jane's Ammunition documents and in there they had some interesting figures for the new DBP10 round for 5.8x42mm Chinese, using their collected data I was able to get the necessary stuff for 6.8x42 DBP10... Please note this is for their 20 inch barrels which covers their AR's and LMG's but not their DMR's/SR's chambered in 5.8x42mm and this goes for EVERYONE.... PLEASE DO NOT ASK ME TO DO MORE BARREL LENGTHS IN 5.8x42mm Chinese, I WILL NOT DO IT

Preliminary 5.8x42mm Chinese DBP10 Findings....

Full Metal Jacket (hardened steel core /w reinforced metal jacket)

71 Grains

3002 ft/s

1421 ft/lbs KE

.338 Ballistics Coefficient (G1 Calculated)

8.33mm of RHA at 300m

I ran some tests in my calculator to simulate damage and its laughable at best, from the muzzle it generates a measly 5.16 damage!

Yes 5.8x42mm Chinese will only have 1 round available, this is because China has to equip a 2.5 million man army and they need to be cheap to do that. Their mentality is 1 size fits all, now supposedly they are working on a round specifically for their DMR's / SR's but no official information has been documented, its only speculation.

Mk18 is looking not bad, like the model and son on. But in my opinion the logo isnt right mayby i`m to accurate and i dont like the dirt on the lower and upper body it looks very strange in my opinion like someone threw his weapon in dirt lake.

I think less is more in that case.

Logo = http://i45.tinypic.com/149v7tw.jpg

Mayby an alternate design for tan = http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2811/12064099623_bbb34a69e0_b.jpg

So i looked a little bit deeper in your screens and found some discrepancies, mayby you want to take a look.

It`s no offense but when it comes down to virtuell weapons i look very accurate and find it right to see the details in the model that makes the real weapon unqiue or different.

But I`m happy with all you awesome guys in the modding scene gave us.

The model is great, but the texture seems odd

If you did it like any of these:

http://www.airsoftnews.fr/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/MK18_mod_1_AEG.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v408/gotm4/gunpics/4sell007.jpg

You'd have a lot more contrast between the parts which would look great in game. It looks a little amorphous at the moment, but then perhaps that's the look you're going for.

Its easy to make a crisp clean weapon texture alot harder to make it look used and dirty...

I thought of trying to have some of our guns used and worn and some of them shiny new..?

BTW the first link you gave is of an airsoft gun..??

I like the "little used" look, a bit of dirt is great too. A clean weapon would be misplaced in my opinion. Weapons needs to look used and dirty and not like bought 5 minutes ago^^

Keep em dirty, when it comes down to it they are only clean for a short time. Ix2 are slowly porting them in due to sounds/models and ballistics from RH. The more realistic the better, keep up the great work.

Im having an issue with zeroing on the Mk17 w/ a suppressor. Without a suppressor the zeroing seems mostly fine but with a suppressor attached the Mk17 shoots almost 250m low at distance, which makes using it almost impossible at medium-long ranges. Also the 40mm is off as well, it lands consistently about 25m short at 300m, but i think I've noticed that issue with vanilla 40mm.

Other than that I love the mod, the sounds are great and I love the ELCAN.

BTW the first link you gave is of an airsoft gun..??

What's it matter if it's a potato gun if I'm referring to the colours and contrast?

All of the default ARMA3 weapons have wear and tear, yet the textures are still detailed and less flat looking. Even this that was just linked...

http://i.cubeupload.com/814gDF.jpg

...looks better because there's more of a grainy look to the textures, and more detail in general.

It's just the receiver really. These existing ones have done a pretty good job:

But if constructive criticism isn't welcome, let me know. Nobody's saying weapons shouldn't be dirty or anything else, there's no need for people to suddenly get defensive.

This is the weapon texture we used as a guide to a used weapon..

http://i.cubeupload.com/814gDF.jpg

But seems everyone is more interested in guns that have not even been taken out of the box. :icon_wink:

No its seems that your refernce picture is a paintjob and no dirt.

And paintjobs are get different used then a blank weapon. But you dont have a paintjob on your gun.

Second i love used weapons but you dont can make a brown layer over it and all is good, you have to look where a weapon get used and dirty and where the dirt sticks.

So you made a tan version ok, lets think of and sandy enviorment. You have to but sandy and fine-grained textures between upper and lower every where where parts come together.

Next thing mag release button and bolt catch gets used and is not clean as an example, thats the differnence between an authentic used weapon and a brown splash on the weapon.

I know it is real time intensive to get a good used weapon texture done, and its a hard task.

And as i said before mayby you take a look at my picture it shows you some model probs.

http://imgur.com/L3RpyU2

Or you compare your refernce picture to your model, mayby you can gave it a little bit more love to it.

http://i.cubeupload.com/814gDF.jpg

Ps.: srry for my bad english i hope you understand what i mean, i like your weapons pack and only want to help to make it even better with good criticism.

I'm loving the look, blazen. The textures are sharp, clear, but it still has the "used" look. I say give it to me as is and let me do some damage. ;)
