Gulf Of Aqaba Mod

DESCRIPTION
This project refers to a landscape east of the Sinai Peninsula.
It is a so-called quadrilateral region (Israel, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia) with a real-Terrain on the Gulf of Aqaba with the cities of Aqaba (jord.)​​, Eilat, Eilot (isra.) and Taba (egyp.).

The Real-terrain is 20.48 x 20.48 km = ~ 420 km2.
A huge satellite image 20480 x 20480 I used as a template where what belongs to roads, buildings, etc..
Thanks to ArcGIS and USGS (NASA Earth Data).

INSTALLATION:
Unzip the downloaded folder with 7zip tool.

Then copy the unzipped folder @ MIS_GolfOfAqaba_v1_2 in your Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead folder.
Start Arma 2 OA and activate under the "Extensions" Option the GulfOfAqaba Mod v1.2

 

NVIDIA User:
NVIDIA user is advised to make the HDR value to "normal" in the Arma 2 graphic option.

Very nice,great job. bit heavy on the extra addons but nice you added them in. do any off the module's work on it like civilians and vehicle module?

Is it possible that you provide an archive without all those additional addons and instead add links to the required addons in a readme?

Many authrs do not want their work to be repacked with others without their permission, you should include a readme about all those addons and also keep in mind people now need to download over a GB of data of which the chances are they already have all those addons.

Think it over ;)

I do not understand.

I make it no different than the other map makers... Lingor, CLAfghan etc. etc. The buildings are part of the map.

Why people should search all building addon itself?

Many objects are also of myself that are listed there.

Should I this then omit from the list?

The best way is, I leave the list away completely.

If people want to download it, then they do that.

I want people just decrease the work and deliver the whole package.

A very impressive terrain indeed, you have captured the vastness really well. Great work and thanks for sharing it.

Only slight problem I have so far is the greenhouses/glass houses, really drain fps, look in one direction away from them and I’m getting 90fps, look back at the glass houses 35fps, that’s a large drop. Only happens with those glass houses, may of course be just my pc not liking them for some reason, not sure.

The rest of the terrain performs really well.

There are parts that are absolutely beautiful, really great job you have done.

I will check the greenhouses again.

In the next update it will be repaired, if there are errors or over-capacity.

Just a tree in the road on the r/bout in the royal residence there. Haven't seen anything else yet. Look forward to your findings concerning the fps drop, if there is nothing wrong there, it must be something my card or cpu doesn't like.

The tree is gone in the next update.

The greenhouse I add to distance LODs.

I fear that the plantations and the thousands of trees are also resource-heavy. Maybe I halve the number of plantation trees.

To be honest I didn't find the trees that heavy, just the greenhouses. Nice to hear regards the update, looking forward to it.

This map is incredible. I was wondering if this map will be AEG compatible? So at night we can have working street and house lights? I'm sure it would be beautiful view looking down from the sky.

Map looks great! Something is killing my frames though when I'm not zooming in. Could it be all the trees?

I tested with 500 greenhouses that were actually some CPU-heavy.

The greenhouse I have improved with distance LODs.

Download them mis_ind the new file and move them into the @MIS_GulfOfAqaba\addons folder.

That certainly makes a difference, fps much better now looking at the greenhouses.
