And maybe some real "special forces" soldiers with face paint and boonie hats.<span id='postcolor'> Frandsen's already made some excellent Marines with face paint, which also includes some Marine recon troops with boonie hats. They also include a nice spec. ops type of M4's (including one version with a silencer) and the AT-4 anti-tank rocket (using a completely new model). All the troops are made or modified with Oxygen from what I understand. At any rate they kick ass. I just hope that they soon have a new AAV-7 to go with them. munger 25 Posted September 16, 2002 Go to http://ofp.info/talesofwar/ and scroll down a bit and you will see the new AAV7 they're developing. Looks a little ugly at present IMHO but hopefully it will be nicer once it's finished.
PFC_Mike 2 Posted September 17, 2002 The marines are nice, but some US army troops would be the coolest. Some rangers and green berets would be nice too.

They just all look the same right now.<span id='postcolor'> I agree that there should be different body shapes, as with Rogue Spear, which used a 3-variable stat to change how a character looked. As for uniforms, that's why they are called "uniforms". They are uniform in appearance. And soldiers are trained to dress like one another. If someone tries to look different, at least in a regular army unit, the others will peer pressure that person (if the superior doesn't come along and straighten them out, first). Marine unis should have their sleeves rolled up, showing the light-colored inside surface, while Army BDU's have their sleeves rolled up in such a way that the camouflage is still showing. U.S.M.C. headcovers (field caps) look different than the Army headcovers. Still, you are allowed a variance in boot design in the Army. It has to be military regs and be all black (at least with the Woodland BDU uniform). I once bought a pair of Special Forces M1984 boots with Goretex linings. They looked like high-speed black Vietnam Jungle boots and they were comfortable as hell. My arsehole Platoon Sergeant wouldn't let me wear them even though they were black, shinable, and were military issue.

PFC_Mike 2 Posted September 21, 2002 gahh new US Army troops first, THEN Seals and Special Forces. And then some Russkies
AdmiralKarlDonuts 0 Posted September 21, 2002 Definitely. We need regular US Army soldiers with Kevlar vests and their cpp armor setting raised just a little bit. The Army cap and the Marine "cover" are worn differently. But I'd really like to see a soldier with ALL his gear. I was a little confused as to why BIS gave them bedrolls, but not rucsacks, gas masks, vests, or any of the stuff they use now. Even an old flak jacket like they used in Nam would have been good. Right now all we have are these skinny dudes in camo with a rifle...hell, I look like that when I play paintball! If you're working on a soldier, PLEASE make sure he has ALL his gear
Cloney 0 Posted September 22, 2002 Seal 84 hit the nail on the head. BIS did a great job but their gear very mixed up. No Flak Jackets, M1956 webbing which was no longer used in 1985. Strange looking kevlar helmets. M-16A2s? These guys have all old gear and they have M16A2s? What the crap? I dunno these guys have a very strange gear load out. JJFLY 1 Posted September 23, 2002 KEEP BUMPED! i know i probably shouldn't mention, this but THE REGULAR US SOLIDERS in Ghost Recon, no "Ghosts", the Reg Us Troops would make good models
mr. Duck 0 Posted September 24, 2002 Well, I don't see a big difference between a ghost and a regular soldier in GR, except for the weapon loadout. AA soldiers could make good regulars too.
JJFLY 1 Posted September 24, 2002 there's a big one look at the mission where your fighting in Venta, the standard us army soldiers follow the tank
Satchel 0 Posted September 25, 2002 New soldier models indeed would be nice. As we have a rather "wild" mix of equipment that bend the timeline from the 80´s into the late 90´s (i.e. G36, KA-50), there wouldn´t be a conflicting issue with actual modern issued uniforms and gear replacing the existent models. But who knows what BIS might have in store for us with Independance Lost (is it still alive?), if only more info about it would come through the pipe.
