Gemini 359 Posted January 22, 2014 (edited) Hi, In mission #4 (I guess), where objective is to steal a truck from a convoy... I'm apparently supposed to reach Omega squad but nothing happens when I'm coming in their area ? Aren't they supposed to join me ? :j: Edited January 23, 2014 by Gemini
mali robot 10 Posted January 22, 2014 (edited) Same happened to me. When I reached Omega squad nothing happened, even after restarting mission three times. I left my character standing at the regroup marker and went to make a coffee, when I got back, five minutes later, trigger finaly triggered and Omega started to react. Obviously a bug. Gemini 359 Posted January 22, 2014 I don't drink coffee unfortunately :D
megagoth1702 252 Posted January 23, 2014 The only thing that comes to my mind - maybe some script lag, performance issue. I hope you guys are running beast CPUs? :/
Gemini 359 Posted January 23, 2014 (edited) Mine is a bit old now (Quad Core Q9550), but I don't think a Core i7 should be required to allow a few AI to join my group... Anyway, I started 3 times the mission and it's still impossible to join Omega. And if I wait too long, the mission failed, so Mali Robot's solution is not working... Edit: OK I finally found what was wrong... I was not at the good place, the group I was talking about was not Omega... Solved. megagoth1702 252 Posted January 23, 2014 Yeah, CPU should be fine. I am glad you figured it out. Keep it up! BTW: I hope you played the side missions before you went for the convoy mission! See This thread
Gemini 359 Posted January 23, 2014 No I didn't... The process of how to launch side missions is not very clear...
[evo] dan 79 Posted January 23, 2014 Anyone had trouble stealing the truck? I set up the ambush near the narrow gulley by the Church, hoping to block the road, the first vehicle goes boom and is destroyed, and the last vehicles crew bail out and run into my mines. But the supply truck keeps driving on! I thought it was supposed to stop like the rear vehicle does. Anyone got any tips for getting it as I was on the cliffs overlooking the site to fire down onto them. OR do I just need to move my own position so I can snipe the drive out just as they hit my ambush?
zimms 22 Posted January 23, 2014 @[EVO]Dan Best option would be to kill the driver. You could also shoot one or two tires. This will most likely lead to the driver getting out of the truck. But keep in mind that your escape will be very limited in speed, although it's not impossible.
Wiki 1558 Posted January 23, 2014 Easy mission though: -Before beginning, gear up with 1 rocket launcher + ammo and 1 satchel. -Follow the orders. -Meet your team. -Mount in the 4x4. -When done, disembark the whole team ---> that way, the objective "meet + embark" are done. -Send them to the factory on foot, north of your position. -Take the vehicle and drive to the end of the road. -Set your charge on the road and hide behind a building (ruins for examples). -Take the rocket launcher and wait for the convoy. -When the convoy arrives, blow up the 1st vehicle with the charge and destroy the third one with the rocket. -Kill the truck driver with your rifle. -Take the truck and go back to base. [evo] dan 79 Posted January 23, 2014 Yeah, I just kinda assumed they would all stop when I hit them, will try it again tonight, its been fine besides that.
TSAndrey 1 Posted January 23, 2014 No I didn't... The process of how to launch side missions is not very clear... You don't. When you leave your base "scouting" will start and from there you can go to each side mission and complete it.
chortles 263 Posted January 23, 2014 Hmm, that's a thing about that mission that I'm not too happy about: The main reason to bring along your own AT seems to be that you can't necessarily guarantee that one of your AI -- #2, the AT guy -- will open up on the rear Ifrit with his RPG-42 Alamut. However, Dan, I can safely say that: First, the ambush itself is an otherwise-simple situation, in that you're only facing a three-vehicle convoy where the middle vehicle is not a threat and the lead vehicle can be one-shotted with well-placed, well-timed explosive charges, therefore the main threat is the rear vehicle... but because of the issues with the UI for AI command, you're stuck having to "do that" yourself too. Second, the truck continuing on unless you shoot out the tires or kill the driver is realistic; driving on "out of the kill zone" is a perfectly valid and sometimes viable counter-ambush method in real life, and the importance of immediately destroying the lead vehicle is that it will buy you at least a few seconds' time while the truck driver maneuvers his truck around the wreck of the lead vehicle. laverniusregalis 10 Posted January 23, 2014 I took two explosive charges, planted them about ~50-75 meters apart, and when the Ifrits were just about on top of them I detonated them. It damaged the truck enough that if we had waited longer to repair it, it would explode, but I killed the driver and quickly had it repaired.
chortles 263 Posted January 23, 2014 Hmm, interesting -- what I did was place both charges side-by-side and then detonate them in front of the first Ifrit, which meant that the first Ifrit shielded the Zamak Ammo from the blast damage; perhaps you could do something similar for the rear Ifrit in placing the second charge beyond 75 meters so that it detonates behind the rear Ifrit? One of your guys is a repair specialist for that reason... one of enemies from third car has a missile launcher, don't miss it. Beware of enemy QRF coming down the road, they are specops with sound suppressors. Take those if you kill them
[evo] dan 79 Posted January 24, 2014 Yeah, I managed to do it after a couple of attempts. My dodgy shooting/AI taking lots of hits was the reason. Heres how I did it: I moved my ambush slight further back along the road instead of at the gulley. I then set myself up at the church with a clear line of sight as they drove down the coastline. I put 1 satchel on each side of the road, and some tripwire mines a bit further back. I stuck my AI on the hill to the left in a hidden position. The convoy drove down the road, and I blew up the first vehicle, I then fired shots at the truck driver (emptied a whole mag, around 30% hit rate on him I think), and then the told my AI to attack the rear of the convoy. However, the guys in the back vehicle tried to rush me and then got blown up by my trip mines :D :D :D :) :) :) I then proceeded to steal the truck (was undamaged), and drive off up the hill. My AI were messing around so I told them to meet me at the base. Then the enemy reinforcements turned up and the GMG got 3 of my guys. I got to the base where upon we were attacked by CSAT, and my last guy having not turned up, I told him to hide out of sight whilst I pegged it along the bottom of the valley where CSAT's guns (except the chopper but that was busy) couldn't attack me. I got to the end of the mission and the last AI survived. I also managed to do the next mission too where my AI was a bit more responsive and kept up with me, but overall they haven't done too bad of a job.
best2nd 10 Posted January 24, 2014 Am I the only one, who let the AI do all the work (except driving)?
chortles 263 Posted January 24, 2014 Am I the only one, who let the AI do all the work (except driving)? If I had any idea how I'd try it... but I'd still be: placing and detonating the charges in front of the lead Ifrit, simply because of how effective that is and how big such an effective "opening attack" is relative to the overall effectiveness of the ambush. Variable 322 Posted January 26, 2014 Great mission. The only complaint I have is that in my case, the convoy came way too early, not allowing me to better prepare an ambush. Luckily I had an AT, me and my AI took out one Ifrit each, and then I had to chase the truck and shoot it's driver. What I didn't manage to do was to keep my team alive, they all got killed when CSAT attacked our RV point. My friend managed to extract with the truck, however I was ordered to destroy it once the attack started. Does it provide a different ending if you manage to drive the truck to the base?
