cenkcnk 0 Posted November 16, 2013 Sorry if asked before but i wonder if our old school guns will ever come to arma 3 like m-16 , m243 ? i mean officially, not by modders.
infiltrator_2k 29 Posted November 16, 2013 Sorry if asked before but i wonder if our old school guns will ever come to arma 3 like m-16 , m243 ?i mean officially, not by modders. Never say never. The developers at Bohemia Interactive will have to listen to their customers - the customer is after all always right. They could potentially release a classic version via a DLC pack if there's enough demand to finance and develop it. I for one would definitely be more than willing to pay for the additional content. I can already envisage an optional menu for playing 'classic' ArmA :)
Tacti-Cool 10 Posted November 16, 2013 I dont see it happening, this game is set is the future, so it stands to reason that current technology has been replaced. Although it is a bit odd that there is *no* technology of any kind from from the past. I.e. every altis farmer has a modern pickup truck with a touch screen
Smurf 12 Posted November 16, 2013 A2 MLODs. Is that a myth?
CaptainAzimuth 714 Posted November 16, 2013 No. Or at least not for another 5 years, and even after the game has been complete with all it's perks, i doubt BI would make a classics weapon pack. How ever, i'd love to see a pack from BI with more advanced 21st century weapons. AUG-A3's, SIG-556's, Masada's and AK-12's. Idk. Most likely all you can do is premote a request to BI via feedback tracker.
dnk 13 Posted November 16, 2013 What's wrong with having them in mods?
roguetrooper 2 Posted November 16, 2013 Wouldn't BIS just have to copy & paste them from A2? Maybe their texture quality does not match A3 perfectly (?), but I suppose many people would like to see a few old guns (AK47 - yes 47, not 74, Lee Enfield, pumpguns...). I would love to see as much as possible (stuff of all kind) in the vanilla game. Mods just cluster up the community. Amongst x players there are probably x+1 incompatible game versions out there. progamer 14 Posted November 16, 2013 ACE is planning to port all of the Arma 2 content and a few other mods are likely to do so as well.

cenkcnk 0 Posted November 16, 2013 What's wrong with having them in mods? not a big deal but in multiplayer, you have to find the players who have that mod.

chortles 263 Posted November 16, 2013 From BI's CEO: That’s a lot to look forward to! How about the Arma 2 content library? Will there be some form of backwards compatibility?Originally, we had an idea that was similar to Take On Rearmed. Unfortunately, upgrading the Arma 2 massive content library to Arma 3 standards is beyond what we can do in reasonable time. So instead, what we are going to do will be similar to Arma 1: we are going to release the entire Arma 2 library to the community and allow them create any derivative work within Arma 3. More details will be announced very soon. In short... nope, presumably not even as a paid DLC.

PuFu 4600 Posted November 16, 2013 Don't have the exact quote, maybe someone like chortles knows it's location on the forums? LOL? why do you tend to put words in other people's mouths? If you believe someone will actually update and port the ENTIRE A2 CO content over to A3, you are sooo gullible... Even a community wide content would be better used to create and replace A2 content from scratch rather than a direct port over, and i might add, just as time consuming Will they use some of the things, i am pretty sure, especially since ACE doesn't have many (if any at this very moment) 3d artists, so it is dependent on vanilla content or other people's work.. Doubtful for visual upgraded, more likely a straight port. I could see a few of the larger mods just porting things, but it certainly won't be done quickly. Things take time. ---------- Post added at 01:14 ---------- Previous post was at 01:13 ---------- ProGamer... why do you get peoples hopes up like that. ? PuFu 4600 Posted November 16, 2013 Doubtful for visual upgraded, more likely a straight port. It is NOT just a visual upgrade lad. I could see a few of the larger mods just porting things, but it certainly won't be done quickly. I am part of one of those larger mods, and while it is planned to use and update some of the A2 mlods, most will (if at all) be just placeholders before custom content is done Things take time. I am sure you would know that from your vast first hand experience.

chortles 263 Posted November 16, 2013 I didn't address your remark because the OP specifically asked about "officially" and NOT "by modders" such as the ACE guys.
progamer 14 Posted November 16, 2013 I believe ProGamer was reffering to this post, but this post doesnt say that the ACE team will be porting all the arma2 content. Ghost, we're did you get this quote? http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?168072-Ace-3&p=2551175&viewfull=1#post2551175 ---------- Post added at 01:21 ---------- Previous post was at 01:19 ---------- I didn't address your remark because the OP specifically asked about "officially" and NOT "by modders" such as the ACE guys. My intent is behind the fact that many threads exist with the exact same point as this. I was trying t make it different and thus useful with Arma 2 content mod porting. ---------- Post added at 01:28 ---------- Previous post was at 01:21 ---------- I am sure you would know that from your vast first hand experience.
