My AMD is working fine with Win XP, never had a serious crash, a few minor crashes were caused by buggy software, but thats it. The only other problem AMD has is the extreme heat. On the other hand, they are cheaper, faster and more efficient, plus, when the clawhammer comes out it will stomp Intel into the ground for good.
Aculaud 0 Posted August 24, 2002 well, even an infant could stomp a CPU into the ground with a claw hammer Thats good for you, but my AMD system is the buggiest thing since the ant hill. If i had a dollar for every time OFP quit on its own, or froze or crashed in any way, i'd be too rich to live with myself.

dayglow 2 Posted August 24, 2002 You don't even need a clawhammer anymore. AMD has found a way to ramp the clock on the Barton core. Look at Toms Harware and see the new procs. They are able to o/c them up to around 2.7ghz right now and a FSB of 166mhz seems to run stable with these procs as well. COLINMAN

Remember how the Athlon blew the P3 away when it came out, because of its superior architecture? Well, here is the next incarnation that engineering concept Here is a rather interesting read about how BAPCo (They make a widely used benchmarking program) has skewed it's new benchmark suite to favour Intel processors. Black light? Like as in UV light? 2.) Does this mysterious black light make your PC run faster? <span id='postcolor'> I really hope it's not a UV light, or black light as you strip joint people call it. Bright UV light and IR light is terrible on your eyes, especially under dark conditions. Ultra Violet means it is above the violet wavelength in the spectrum of light visible to human eyes, you can't clearly see the light source with your eyes, but the waves are still hitting the retina and cornea. However your eyes do not know this and do not close the pupil sufficiently... thus you are blinding yourself without knowing it. Furthermore, in terms of thermodynamics UV light bulbs are the same as any other light bulb, generating wavelengths which eventually are absorbed and turned into heat energy. I would be a little surprized if adding a light bulb helps cool the computer case.
