-TU--33ker 0 Posted August 21, 2002 i don't really like to play babysitter fot the AI. that's why i wish to be an average soldier in BIS next campaign or mission. what about you?
DarkLight 0 Posted August 21, 2002 I hate to be commander, i prefer being on a team of a couple men with someone else taking the command...
Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted August 21, 2002 Good thread. BIS could learn something from it. Yeah, me too. I hate to give orders all the time and watch the map if everyone is following it. "6 rearm at 4o'clock" 5 weapon RPG"...no that costs a lot of time and I have to hide somewhere to be able to concentrate on the orders without interruption. But soldier in a big squad is great, I see more and more of my comrades dissapearing while I am still alive. And in the end it could be that you get the command for the remaining ones anyway. Ruud van Nistelrooy 0 Posted August 21, 2002 I prefer to work alone or in a group, i hate commanding, the system is clumsy but them most other command systems are naff for me. I'd rather take orders or work incognito because theres less to worry about (and if the squad gets wiped out its not your fault)
-TU--33ker 0 Posted August 21, 2002 as a soldier you are able to attack the enemy from behind while the rest of the team is attacking from the front. and you have more time for the killing stuff, because you don't have to look after your men.
Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted August 21, 2002 But what I hate most ist silent spec ops missions!
-TU--33ker 0 Posted August 21, 2002 i think BIS should seriously think about this thread, when working on their next ofp-related products!

Extreme unrealism in covert missions. No biggie, I get ticked off and shoot everything, that gets me bigger fights in next mission.
ran 0 Posted August 21, 2002 i often play like a lonewolf , but when teamplay is really needed , i try to do my best in the group
DarkLight 0 Posted August 21, 2002 Actually i also like to play around in the mission editor, put some unarmed soldiers on the field and go hunt them down with my tank

DarkLight 0 Posted August 21, 2002 Or also very fun, using mortar on groups of men and trying to kill as many as possible with one shot. It's unbelievable how strong they are...
-TU--33ker 0 Posted August 21, 2002 i like to build fortifications or camps. i've always liked playing around with editors since Warcraft 2 at the moment i'm building fortifications and roadblocks all over Nogova. i even divided the whole island in sectors for east, west, resistance and some gangsters. maybe i make a real mission out of this before i'm sick of it
Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted August 21, 2002 I like sniping down civilian planes! And I built my own villages which are cool battlefields to test out AI. And I love mining up entire roads and let hundreds or cars pass!
moerty 0 Posted August 21, 2002 playing as commander is so satisfying, it gives me the flexibilty to play rambo and crawl to a good position by myself while the rest of the team covers me. when i'm ready to start the action i just tell them to fire and use their noise to cover any destruction i'm on about. plus when i start getting shot at and i identify the enemy the snipers in my team will immediatly engage, sweetness. being a cog under the command of some stupid AI is not very fun, nor is it comforting, although it might be considered more accurate to real life conditions for soldiers. Global Enforcer 0 Posted August 21, 2002 commanding troops is the best, IMO. (except tank commander, id rather drive the tank) but to be in command and tell them what to do, where to go, is just awsome. i like setting up troops to deffend or attack, or even a divertion for me and a sniper. i guess its all about what you wanna do, and how you wanna play. thats why i love OFP. Stag 0 Posted August 21, 2002 Bloody good question! I like both, for different reasons. working for a patient single kill with silenced weapons is cool, or strapping on a whole company and driving in, blasting "Ride of the Valkyries" (well, actually "Don't Fear the Reaper") out of all speakers. I do wish I was able to execute particularly dim AI, though. Unfortunately, natural selection doesn't always work. Edit:(spelling and the middle ground) Going in as a grunt can be frustrating, unless we're talking about multiplay; putting your virtual life in the hands of a machine usually ends badly. Well, for me, anyway.
Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted August 21, 2002 I like the stuntman missions My 007 performance is better than silly kindergarden GT3
DarkLight 0 Posted August 21, 2002 When i fly a heli and i bomb some cars just for fun, i always crash cuz one of those stupid cars got blown right against my heli
Othin 0 Posted August 21, 2002 I actually liked playing commander in resistence (thought not when I had to drive vehicles. I swear like all of my tank drivers had iqs of 8) especially when I was doing the mission where you have to destroy the helos at the airport during the night. I felt pretty confident when my two Jaroslavs opened up on either side of me with their PKs. During mission editing usually I place myself alone far from where the action starts. I've been playing with LGB carbombs so it's better to view from afar with binocs
Demagor 0 Posted August 21, 2002 I am a BIG fan of solo missions. Â I like it when it's me, backed up by me, giving orders to me. The time it takes to give orders, as few seconds as it takes, is time I could have spent popping four of five infantry. I'm not a big fan of "Get in, get out, don't let them know you were there" missions. Â I find it difficult to play an entire mission without letting a little bit of lead fly. Â My fingers twitch. Â My neck jolts. Â I jump into convulsions. Â My mouth begins to foam. Ack... ... wait... I accidentally shut down my Pacemaker... ... okay... it's on now. Ahhh.... much better. Your troops watch your back at all costs. Or maybe they dont. You can also order all of them to do the attacking while you cover them. You attack when you want, where you want, and how you want. A little less challenging, but it puts the fun back into commanding troops.
Aculaud 0 Posted August 21, 2002 Oh yeah, and as far as the poll goes, i like either being a lone wolf, or somewhere in a team of lone wolves, but i ALWAYS love to snipe!
SpaceAlex 0 Posted August 21, 2002 BlackOp missions are my best missions. I made many BlackOp based missions. They're just so fun. I like sneaking around in the morning and placing satchel charges. I also like sniping. There's nothing better than waiting on the hill and watching the enemy walking around and waiting for the bullets. Oh, and one more thing. I'm always the commander. You can't attack a convoy if AI is in charge. You can't make an ambush, because AI will spoil everything.
