dustpuppy 10 Posted August 24, 2013 I recently got to spend time in northern Czech Republic, specifically Rokytnice Nad Jizerou, for a family reunion. The most striking thing for me was how much the scenery reminded me of my days playing Operation Flashpoint. You can also admire some beautiful old machinery there. I'm quite curious about what brands and models some of these vehicles are. I've got a full gallery with high-res pictures here, but i'm posting inline pictures below. High-res version This is the kind of scenery that you'll come across there. We stayed at Hotel Stary Mlyn, which I highly recommend. High-res version This snow cat looks quite different from the ones we see in western europe. This area is a ski resort in the winter time. High-res version A truck nearby a mountain lodge. High-res version truck with a crane in the back, looks like a logging truck. High-res version Similar truck, without the crane. High-res version Similar model, apparently used in the construction of a wooden house. High-res version An old tractor. High-res version This is a Lada Niva, a Russian 4-wheel drive vehicle which used to be quite common in Czech Republic. High-res version I think this is a Skoda High-res version During a hike, we stumbled upon this empty hotel. Doors were open and the inside looked clean and well maintained but no one was there. It had an eerie feeling, much like in the movie "The Shining". Finally the owner showed up and said he was waiting for a group of tourists but wasn't fully open yet and served us beer. dustpuppy 10 Posted August 24, 2013 Finally I also go to go to the "National Technical Museum" in Prague (Národnà technické muzeum). The photos below are from there. That museum is really worth it, with many vehicles and historical highlights. High-res version High-res version High-res version

I can't tell what they are. Was the Praga track featured in Operation Flashpoint ? Can't remember :(
fraczek 4 Posted August 25, 2013 (edited) Was the Praga track featured in Operation Flashpoint ? Can't remember :( Well, it was featured in Arma 2 as civilian and NAPA truck. The white car in your photo is a Skoda 130RS. BTW, you can look most of them up e.g. on that website Edited August 25, 2013 by fraczek
krzychuzokecia 718 Posted August 25, 2013 Are you talking about this one and this one ? Well, that's the white coupe (reminds me Skoda 110R but without two inner lights), but the black car is the one on the right of white coupe (opposite of that old-school cabrio which You linked). Was the Praga track featured in Operation Flashpoint ? Can't remember :( Yes, it was! In fact, I never saw a real one, but hours of watching it in the game are enough to remember it's shape :)
Sniperwolf572 758 Posted August 26, 2013 Yes, it was! In fact, I never saw a real one, but hours of watching it in the game are enough to remember it's shape :) It's also in Arma 2, so no excuses there. :p
krycek 349 Posted August 26, 2013 I knew the Praga trucks were tough but I'm surprised they're still in wide use even these days.Btw very nice pics,Czech Rep is a very beautiful country.
fraczek 4 Posted August 26, 2013 I knew the Praga trucks were tough but I'm surprised they're still in wide use even these days.Btw very nice pics,Czech Rep is a very beautiful country. Well, as they had been manufactured right into the 80s, are very reliable (apart from cold starting the earlier models in winter - ether or burning gas soaked newspaper in the air induction was your friend...) and sturdy very offroad construction, "repairable with a hammer", a lot of them still serve in the more remote/mountainous areas. Although you don't want to be driving behind one in the city in a cabrio, lol. One Czech NGO even brought a couple of Pragas into Haiti for the post-earthquake reconstruction efforts, where they served admirably in a country with most infrastucture and roads destroyed. dustpuppy 10 Posted August 27, 2013 I like this thread ! Posting a few more pictures, just because I can. Very high res This scene for me looks exactly like Operation Flashpoint. Actually I remember creating some ambush missions that were exactly like that. Let's see if someone can identify the vehicle in the distance :) High-res Zetor tractor with beautiful landscape High-res The font on the sign reminds me of Operation Flashpoint. What does the sign say ? High-res Tractor outside the Agriculture museum, which I didn't get to visit (next time).
jeza 5416 Posted August 27, 2013 Over 1000 miles away, and only briefly been in CZ before, however still look at those photos of the landscape and think 'oh the memories I've had there'. Thanks for the share.

Deadfast 43 Posted September 1, 2013 Let's see if someone can identify the vehicle in the distance Judging by the front grill it looks like Skoda 125 L.
