Lagg on a HD 7970

Recommended Posts

Hi.

Sometimes i get FPS laggs, and its really not funny :(..

Like when you go on top of a mountain.. and you look at other mountains i get like 20/19 FPS.....

Like there is on the map something called Mike i guess. when you go up there, you see nice sun shine and i get a HUGE fps drop to like 10/15.. not even playable.....

I got a HD XFX 7970 I5 3570k 3.4 GHz..

I got everything highest setting, so at Ultra, very high etc.

What could be the problem?

Might be too high viewdistances... What are your viewdistance settings?

I got it on Normal.

He means what range do you have it on.

Is your poor/laggy FPS in SP missions or MP missions?

Quick settings to give you some more FPS:

FSAA = off

SSAO = off or standard

Shadows = standard or high

PIP = low

Overall Visibility = <1700

I got the FPS lagg on multiplayer, on full server btw.. like 70 players.

I try those settings.

Stand-by...

And how is the game in single player?

Maybe it's the server and mission to blame.

From at the start, where you are dropped into a valley, where you need to follow the group leader and take down some enemies.

i get 48/50 FPS constant..

So it might be the multiplayer...

Once in the village its like 44/50 all the time.

answering ezcoo´s question may help to solve your problem. viewdistance and object distance are cpu dependend so its useful to reduce it to max 3000m if you haven´t overclocked your ivy.

What if i overclock my i5 3570k 3.4GHz, to like 4.2 GHz?

Do you guys know till what point i can overclock my i5 to?

If i overclock it, will i get more FPS?

OC your cpu will definitely help any ARMA game, especially 2 and 3 since the cpu uses one thread for AI and one for game. If you encounter a lot of AI, it can slow the game down.

You need to know the art of OC to get the max out of your system so best to consult OC forums for that kind of info. Also make sure you have 8 GB of ram within a Windows 64 environment so you can give ARMA 3 its own 4 GB of ram to use with the rest leftover for the OS and etc...

In multiplayer it won't improve FPS. In single player overclocking will help improve fps.

All CPUs have unique overclock limits. They often come in batches, some batches being good and some not so good. You'll have to find your CPUs limit through trial and error. You cannot overclock with the default Intel CPU cooler, its just not capable of shifting enough heat. So I hope you've got an after-market one. Your processor will likely be limited by heat instead of other reasons(vcore etc).

you can overclock fine with stock intel cooler, i ran my old 2500k @ 4.5ghz for a month before i got the mounting bracket for my noctua cooler

also higher cpu speed will help in multiplayer up to a certain point depending on the server and mission file etc

also op will have to lower some settings from the ultra preset for decent fps, 4xaa instead of 8, disable pip, turn off blur is my recommendation, leave all the other gpu heavy options on ultra

The sandy bridge line were incredible overclockers. The ivy bridge line however use a rather poor quality thermal pad under its IHS instead of solder resulting in poor heat transfer. I would imagine what is capable on a 2500k isn't possible on a 3770k with stock cooling unfortunately.

You could always de-lid it :P (don't do this)

Has nothing to do with your graphic card or CPU,have a GTX 680 with 4-GB Ram 8GB 1600 MHZ ram and Core i7-860 3.2GHZ in Singleplayer 60-70 Constant FPS On Ultra cant rise anything higher,and Viewdistance Overall 4000 and Object is 2187 shadow is 50 cause useless.In singleplayer allways Smoothe FPS,in Multiplayer on most servers you only can change the Viewdistance with the Player menu that you can choose with the mousewheel,there the option is Medium,cause everything about it will kill every CPU max FPS then 20.

To play on Insane Viewdistance on Multiplayer with 50-60 FPS i guess you would need 4-8 NASA Super Computers with there own AI It is just absolutly unbalance in the performance section.
