Will there be rivers in Arma 3?

Recommended Posts

I know they didn't have rivers in Arma 2, but I would love to see Arma 3 have rivers on Altis or stratis. Will anyone be able to figure out if rivers are coming? Thank you

A dev has stated that there will not be any rivers in A3, but he also didn't say that there wont be any water... and I don't mean sea water lol. :D

Kinda of expected this, but one day I hope we can have them. It would add a nice new strategic element to the map for missions and scenarios.

It must be a pretty big hurdle to over come though, as environment is one thing that BIS do seem to like to get quite accurate (also, rivers are pretty major in the overall scheme of conflict and battle tactics etc). I believe the main problem with rivers is how the AI will deal with them and bridges etc?

Yep. And how the engine deals with water in general.

The bigger issue here is both stratis and Altis contain no rivers.

Though my Flooding like ACR ticket in my sig would allow us to make rivers.

Could have ponds/lakes though. And terrain creators could just make the rivers by creating narrow "islands" between the ocean. Celle 2 is an island that comes to mind when mentioning this.
