Discussion on simplified features

Recommended Posts

I would like to discuss the current features in Arma 3 that are simplified for making the game more enjoyable, trying to make pvp better, bring in new players and other reasons ect...

Hopefully we can locate some of the problem areas for BIS that were "dumbed down" for what ever reason and bring them back to Arma standard!

The most obvious example I can think of at the moment would be the "instantaneous grenade toss" feature, of course.

Being able to Perform field surgery on yourself to restore health is just a bit... wacky as well :butbut:

I'm in agreement with NeuroFunker here... and the idea of "locating the areas for BI" seems... funny.

No need for another thread to discuss features, there are enough of these already.

whats the difference to axed features thread?

Axed = features which's "evolution" or inclusion in A3 has been halted or they were completely removed.

Simplified = features currently in-game, only changed to a level to make A3 more "accessible / fluid".

As you can see, it's quite a difference.

both of this can be discussed in axed features. Axed doesn|t neccarz mean cut. Can guilt as simplefiled, f*cked up, whatever.

Well to answer the thread:

The Grenade throwing.

It is nice that using grenades has been really improved so much to the point that people actually use them but I have some ideas to improve this.

Lets look at CoD 1 UO Expansion

You could simply throw grenades (you would see the grenade beeing prepared before the throw).

You could hold the grenade ready and wait to pull the pin.

You could pull the pin and hold the grenade for a few seconds before throwing it.

having these features and proper animations would be excellent.

Close this troll thread.

ProGamer creates a thread about discussion and ends it right there giving us nothing to discuss.

If you want people to discuss something then just come out and say it instead of being a silly crybaby who creates a thread implying there’s something you don’t like about the game but anyone else who dislikes something about it should fill in what it is for you.

Think before you write and make a thread.

Looks at signature... I find it hard to take anything you say seriously.

Simplified feature.

Suppression.

Suppression.

Talking of which, there isn't any in A3.

None for the player, none for the AI which doesn't even use supression maneuvers.

EDIT: I was just testing this. Stratis runway, some objects to get cover. 2 groups of enemies....

This belongs here http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?159266-Bohemia-have-you-bothered-at-all-with-the-AI-in-the-last-3-months/page10

The question is whether the features are simplified or unimplemented/bugged.

For example this came today: Added some delay between throwing 'nades

I would note however that Jay Crowe "pulled back the curtain" on that bit (grenades) here, or rather on what he previously said about grenades and on the state of the new grenade implementation.

This is subjective interpretation on my part, but it looks like he was saying that there's now a delay between the grenade throws simply because it was easier (and presumably less time-consuming) to implement than, say, changing grenades/throwables to be an "equip" weapon... an interpretation which I admit gels with my continued sense that an unspoken theme in dev responses has been "what we are able to get done in time".
