ForeverOmega1989 1 Posted March 10, 2013 (edited) it only happens on certin parts of the map, as far as i can tell but depending on where i stand, and if i turn the lighting flickers, it's like it cycles inbetween lighting High, Normal And Disabled, this was a issue for me in arma 2, on a previous build i had, but this is a entirely new game, and a new pc build and i don't understand why this is happening, i didn't notice this yesterday or any day prior, was there a "Update" BI put out that i'm unaware of in that time that could be causing this issue? It would be nice if someone let me know if they are having this "Flickering" issue. THESE IMAGES are just based on my moving my head and or body in a circular motion while never actually moving from the same spot. ForeverOmega1989 1 Posted March 11, 2013 does anyone else know of this issue except this guy and me?
tet5uo 4 Posted March 11, 2013 I see this too, haven't noticed it yet in arma3, but I have only had a couple hours.
Droikka 1 Posted March 11, 2013 I see this too, haven't noticed it yet in arma3, but I have only had a couple hours. It is called object culling. This means the mountain behind you is not rendered thus the lighting engine can not draw a shadow for it. It's the optimizations in effect everyone wants.
ForeverOmega1989 1 Posted March 11, 2013 so i'm guessing BI knows about this issue, and are they working on getting it fixed? like i said i know it's alpha but it was in arma 2.
andawra 10 Posted March 12, 2013 sorry but that is not gonna change, its the same as in arma 2 because the arma 3 engine is just an updated arma 2 engine, which ofc was just an updated arma engine etc etc.
ForeverOmega1989 1 Posted March 13, 2013 such a shame too, i was really hoping this issue would of been adressed because it is by far the worst glitch in arma 3, almost game stopping.
RadicalAtHeart 11 Posted March 16, 2013 Bump. This also happens in ArmA 1. I hope you can fix it once and for all.
NeuroFunker 11 Posted March 16, 2013 yes, i can confirm that. But BIS is now implementing improved shadows, let see if that will change anything.

Gorbachev 1 Posted March 18, 2013 Yes, this is referred to as Z-Fighting ever since it became possible to render textures in a 3 dimensional space. Dolly?
