Sakai 1 Posted January 23, 2013 (edited) Mod Introduction: Forze Armate di Capraia - Armed Forces of Capraia, is my "version" of military for the map made called "Capraia" by the French dev-team "NGStudio", I was fascinated by the landscape, colors and the history of it so I thought, why not making army for it?, the island keeps its original story and location till 1796, in the history line Capraia was ruled by the Merchant Republic of Capraia and competed with fellow ally Venice, in the 1930 it has been occupied by the Nazi Germany and freed and given independence in 1945 by Britain and France and it became a Republic of Capraia, a small island with a military and oil... Please do understand this is not a official mod of any type to the original map, this is a personal mod im doing by myself because I feel like this beautiful map needs it inhabitants so I decided to change the history. This mod is created on community member's views, not only mine, I enjoyed doing this mod and of course I keep on, thanks to this mod I have improved my skills, this is my first major and big mod I have created that gets released, Im happy that I have been working on it 24/7 and I hope you will enjoy it! Regarding the M117, M60A3, and T-55, I would try and dirty or roughen them up a little bit. They look really clean and shiny - like they are brand new and washed every day haha. Maybe lighten the vehicle textures up just a little bit to help it better match the Capria landscape. Some of the vehicles, like the tanks, seem just a little too dark and are kind of easy to spot. The desert M117 could be a little lighter in color and even have some olive green added to it to help it blend better. That is just my opinion though, I don't know how others might feel about that. I would give regular infantry units the FAMAS with the red dot, or at least the squad leader anyways, and I would replace all of the Special Forces weapons (who're using the FAMAS) with the G36 (either the G36C or G36K). Since they are Special Forces units they need a weapon which will allow them to operate in tighter spaces and also have room for a lot of optional attachments. I would also replace the regular infantry's MG36 with something a little more conventional like the M249. I know it's over used a lot but it is the most sensible weapon really. The MG36 with regular infantry units just seems really out of place to me for some reason. The units could really use some static weapons like a machine gun and mortar. With all of the mortar scripts out lately, mortars seem almost essential in larger scaled firefights. Anyways those are just my suggestions after playing around with it for a little bit. I hope you don't take offense in any way, I was just thinking of things that would be cool/help improve it. I really really love the work you've done, the faction is very unique and really different then most other mods out in game. I've already had a lot of great firefights using these units. Firstly I will start with vehicle textures, if I would of know how to make stuff look worn out e.g. add dirt and so on I would of do it, really but Im no photoshop master, I tried to look around but no luck :| and about tank colors, as I wrote in WIP topic before, they are bought off from another nation's FAC did not have time nor money to spend to re-paint everything because as soon as they arrived few months after understanding the system of the vehicles Invasion has began. Special Forces - Reason why they are given FAMAS G2 is because it was bough with a deal with F1 from France, and since G2 is a improved version of Famas it was given to BFS, only few G36C's were bough off and were given to Officer's and Commanders. Red Dot on Infantry - Sadly nope, reason is here is another realism fact which I always go when making that kind of mod, they are expensive, Republic of Capraia is a small nation and has small army and sadly cant afford buying scopes for every soldier, just like real nations do, not everyone in military has scope. MG36 - Has been changed already into FN FALO thanks to CWR2 for the gun but not yet implemented to the download, it will be up with another update later on, it was only given as no better idea came up to my mind. Static - M2 .50 Cal's, Mortar's will be added in next update, I have as well send PM to wld about RACS AA gun and M101 light howitzer. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I know it is Capraian army but an OPFOR would still be cool B) For Photoshop textures, you can search around for brushes like this: http://www.brusheezy.com/brushes/1176-high-res-dirt-brush-set which give you dirt spatter brushes which you can add over top of the base texture. You can mess with the opacity for each layer to give it a layered appearance. I don't know if that helps you any but I thought I'd try. Next update already sounds awesome. Non ACE version is released in the same times as ACE so its for download since the topic was up :) As for OPFOR to be frankly honest no need to make OPFOR version of them... They are good as they are and the weather is pretty much the same ((as I wrote in the story or in the older WIP topic, Capraia is under Takistan but has much more calmer climate)) So not that I even planned making edited OPFOR's. EDIT: I guess it is what I feared as it could be a folder name conflict... If it is that I will be fixing it asap right now. I will be fixing the name conflicts now HOWEVER if you want to play with FAC normally please only play with FAC mod not anyother until new patch is up. All have their original .pbo names, this will cause conflicts. For example you have my rki_t55.pbo called the same name as it appears in my NAF mod. You need to change the folder names so when you binarize it, it is different. So for example the rk_t55 folder should be sakai_t55 folder or fac_t55. This means no conficts will occur if other mods are loaded containing the original .pbos. As the .pbos will be a different name. You may need to apply this to other addons in your Mod also. Download: FAC ACE - Dropbox FAC NON ACE - Download ACE Version and delete fac_cdf_marines.pbo and replace it with this: Dropbox Flag Fix - I have forgot to put flag.pbo into the folder, please do download this if you want to have a flag in, it will be added in next version. Dropbox PLEASE READ THIS! How to install? First of all please DELETE the old @FAC ACE or NON ACE folder completely if you have ones, once you have your version downloaded simply put the @FAC ace or non ace into main directory of ArmA 2 CO NEXT STEP is to enter that folder, go to addons and there is p85.7z extract that into the addons folder INSIDE where the rest of the FAC addons are. The reason why it is RAR/7zip is to compress it size so it wont take ages to upload. So it should look like this: ATM P85_v is not edited for addon conflict so it might have some issues so please do not use p85_v addon while playing FAC until I fix it again. Upcoming Patch v1.0 R3 P85_v Addon Conflict fix. Possible introduction of PM12. Static Equipment. Possibly Miltia Officer gets StG 44. Worn out uniforms - dirt and sand. Full equipment e.g. binoculars, medical backpack's for ace and so on. Static Equipment has been delayed due the addon conflict. Capraian patriotism won't be stopped by some loud BTR and bunch of Takistani's xD Good to know you like it. EDIT: As for your suggestion, History my friend, Capraia was taken over by Nazi Germany, the forces over there had StG 44's the Liberation Forces had them as well when they used to raid German outpost's or patrol's after British and French came loads of German weapons has been given to Capraian's so therefor there are still some StG laying in Ministry of Defense Storage, ammo for it is made locally. If I would of know how to model I would of ask Vilas for permission to edit the StG and make it look like a Capraian variant of StG 44 but im just a little texturer with little nut brain :) Perhaps if anyone would like to help me with that let me know? Weapon's for Capraian Militia is ww2 weaponry or some personal weapons of militamen, simply to get rid of the stuff from military storage and use the ones that are still working so money is not spend. I thought someone told me I44 has one, well I PM'ed I44 and sadly no permission but was redirected to Hell in Pacific and no reply. If you are using ACE version but do not HAVE ACE please follow the instruction on last page and 1st page, make sure if you do not have ACE download NON ACE soldier pack and replace it with one from ACE pack and than you have NON ACE FAC ---------- Post added at 22:38 ---------- Previous post was at 21:35 ---------- @FAC File has been updated, you will no longer need Flag Fix, I have as well forgotten to add FN FALO into the pack and I have just added it into the pack, if you do not want to re-download everything completely here is download link for FN FALO - Dropbox Here is a same link to @FAC - Dropbox Sorry about the missing files, its been hell fixing the addon conflict >.< So just to clarify, the @FAC has been updated to have everything, flag and FN FALO. You shouldn't because the @FAC was updated, did you make sure you deleted the OLD @FAC folder and re-downloaded the new @FAC? I just checked the @FAC on dropbox and toke out fac_cdf_marines and unpbo'ed it to see config.cpp and it says FN FALO so the config is working correctly, could anyone confirm if that is happening to someone else or not? + The update already had edited AR config to use FN FALO on the addon conflict patch. EDIT: I have just downloaded it and checked the config.cpp and I can simply confirm it has FN FALO as AR, you must of do something that it does not have one :) re-download it.
