This game is mostly for online play. The only single player is the training mission. The one where you shot target dummys, then the training course, then the weapons course, then the MOUT course.

if you want to play those 4 levels without going online, Satchel posted an ini file reconfiguration to do it.

goto page 9, all the way at the bottom

Perhaps i'll post it here so ppl don't have to look for the other thread, i dunno if it's the same but if you do this you won't have to finish the trainings before going online.

If you go to the main folder of the game and you open your profile it'll say 0, 0, 0, 0, and so on, if you change the 2nd 0 in a -1 all the trainings will be completed (with exception of the sniper school and stuff like that)

ps: I'm not responsible when something goes wrong biggrin.gif

I've been playing this game two days straight on an Arstechnica server. it is excellent. It feels very much like the multiplayer in the original Rainbow 6.

Yeah, but those online cheaters will now have to deal with the US government and the NSA smile.gif Instead of auto boot software, the haxor will get a knock on the door from some suits and they come in and smash his stuff smile.gif

Thos "cheats" wont work at all.. I have tried them and unless you arent qualified for the other maps, all beyond MOUT MC Kenney, you cant play them.. and with quailified i mean not "cheated" to be quaifilied by editing the save games and tours.ini..

The reason is: When you get qualified for either the next steps in your "offline" training or the "online" training, your online account at the America´s Army Server will be updated with your new "authorization" level... so cheating your local files, wont help as each time you connect to a Army own server "Homelan" your level is read out of your online account...So the only affect a cheat of your local files has, is, the Army server will realize a missmatch of your local and online files, which can basing on the posted ROE easily eneded up in a permanent ban from the Homelan servers...

Loooooooooooooooooollll with 7.5 Kb/sec this is gona take me 8 hours! tounge.gif I still do it even though it will probably cost me as much as buying Warcraft III or Neverwinter Nights (but who wants so childish games anyway? hey, just kiddin).

At 10pm I will be finished, and then watch someone called 1a Schnitzel, he will be the worst recruit ever participating in a training! biggrin.gif ! And he will only use his kife like in SOF2

The .ini cheat only works for getting around the training offline, you can play Obstacle Course, Weapons familiarisation and MOUT individual training without having to complete BRM before. All other missions are meant to be played online together with other people.

You cannot join online games you are not actually qualified for, as your stats are fetched from a master server you have uploaded your results to before.

So you need to complete your training the regular way to connect to the McKenna MOUT server for example, and get to play missions afterwards.

Problem for now is that most people cannot progress beyond MOUT, because even if you win, your results are not saved as the master server can´t be connected because of the extrem high demand, bringing the server down to its knees and stop responding.

Our team completed MOUT according to rules about 20 times, but the next missions doesn´t get unlocked.

But even if i´m stuck at MOUT currently, the game feels really good, as the teamwork is you will experience online, because its kinda forced to be sucessfull.

The most rewarding experience however are the players comparing it to or expecting a CS, cursing they can´t hit anything, thus the weapons are all screwed, you cannot run fast enough with weapon aimed, jumping to avoid hits doesn´t work well....i love it.

I think the Army put out a great game, a more "realistic" approach to a small scale infantry shooter when compared to other games.

no you don't.

you can open the console (~ key)

and type:

open ip:port

to connect to an unofficial server.

The cheat im talking about, easily lets you hit all 40 targets. Its something to do with dropping your weapon in the area you shot from then get out of the box and you get yelled at etc...But im not being more specific then that, cause there is more to it.It just makes it easyer to get to be a sniper. confused.gif

Hate to bust ur vision albert but uh there are no knives in AA...Sorry sad.gif Trust me u dont wanna get that close to a guy too..

My Evaluation of AA

1. I wish my drill sergeants at Ft. Benning had been that nice to me!

2. IRETS range looks nothing like any of the Malone ranges on Sand Hill. Terrain is way to flat, building are wayyyy to new looking.

3. Qualifying is way to easy, but the whole breath control feature is awesome! So realistic to have to wait and fire during natural respiratory pauses. 50m and 100m targets are not supposed to be full upper torso, head and shoulders only. To correctly simulate qualifying at ITB, first do about 200 pushups the night before. Get up at 0430 and do a 12 km forced march. Turn the heat up in the room with your computer to 100 degrees and turn on a humidifier. Have someone yell at you while you are shooting. Put on a kevlar, since you have only been in the army for 3-5 weeks you are not used to it and it gives you a constant headache. Get into the M-16 config file and change it so the weapon jams every 5 round to simulate the crappy old M-16's used in basic. Now try to qualify with wobbly arms, sweat in your eyes, kevlar making your head throb, all while being yelled at.

4. Obstacle course is way nicer than the one in real life.

5. McKenna mout looks pretty good. Of course it's kick ass in real life too.

6. Weapons familiarization stage is wierd. Never do you get to have a free for all with a SAW, M203, and Frags. Environment is highly controlled. Every DI and Range Safety NCO treats you like you wanna lob one at them.

7. Where are the other 239 personnel in your training company?

8. Where the f%^k is the balding, over weight, cigar smoking First Sergeant that just won't leave you the hell alone?

9. Where are the 5 fire drills that they do every night to make sure you don't get enough sleep?

10. Where is the good old rat/roach/bat infested 30th AG Reception Battalion that you have to sit around at for a week before you get asigned to a training company?

11. Where are the 5 days worth of boring ass dry fire excersize ranges that you have to attend before actually getting to fire your weapon?

12. Where is the 30 mile road march that you have to complete to graduate?

13. Where is your prick ring-knocker CO that won't shut the fuck up about how he's never seen combat because he was away at West Point....but he's been shot at.

Total propaganda my friends. If anyone joins because of what the saw in this game, I feel sorry for them. tounge.gif

Actually dude, I have fiddled with my ini files enough that I can actually get into most of the available missions. Unfortunately, its very unreliable, and I think I may have deleted a couple names, flipped around a few jpgs, and possibly deleted a few briefings in the process tounge.gif

I still think the damage model sucks. I mean cmon, 5 shots to bring a guy down with MILES gear on? Cmon 11B, get in here and tell the guy its bullshit

I knew the army is much harder than what they show in this game. And that u cant take a whole 30 round clip in the chest in RL...Actually with it being very hard to get on MOUT mckenna severs or any severs infact i would think that would chase some people away.

Ya total bullshit. See my comment about MILES EXROE in my JRTC thread. It's so disgustingly easy to kill with MILES that it kinda sucks. You don't even need blanks. You can just tap you finger on the front of the percussion sensor to get the IR beams to fire. tounge.gif

Last rotation we had a guy shoot down an MiG (vismod F-16)with an M4A1. tounge.gif

heh, the miles gear seemed pretty wierd. You just shot the guy all over and it wouldnt doing anything to him. confused.gif But it was cool, once you could finally kill him(tag him), the guy you killed(tagged) looks around, then takes his helmet off and throws it to the ground discusted, and drops his M16A2, then sits down.
