What's the point of playing Vanilla Style?

Recommended Posts

Well, don't hate on me.... But I known ARMA for it's mods. Ace, ect.

Vanilla is great for new players. But not for medium players(some experience)

But, I really don't see a full point. I think that the Dev's should really consider having an option for ACE style gameplay.

I can't see a point in Vanilla thoughh. Campaigns are horrible. And missions editors are nice though! :)

But no true simulation if you playing in Vanilla.

And I got a quicky question! :\

Is BI Studio pushing their own bottoms to actually make this the most copies sold in ARMA series history?

I really hope they do do this! But people on youtube are.... "ARMA is S#!T!!! You need super computer!" "Horible gameplay, Cod kills it"

I mean youtube, well 88% of it hates ARMA i bet. ARMA needs to be more mature gameplay players.

Me my self are very mature. I only played Demo (lmao dont hate) and Free 2 Play. (deleted it for reasons of stuff)

Thanks for your time.

But is that because of technical issues raised by mods or the gameplay they introduce?

It looks? It looks like graphics got improved - true that. BIS didn't show a single gameplay improvement thus far.

Or are we talking about graphics determining if the game is less boring?

Hi, Metalcraze is right; i haven't seen any gameplay/playability improvement until now. Same weapon dancing when aiming while you walk and same everything, the graphics have been improved and sure that the AI too, but that's all or is what it seems... still impossible to land effective fire at 50m or even less while you walk aiming down the sights. There isn't any video showing the oppossite, so it must be the same; also... sure that they'd added much more keys instead make more use the actions menu or automatic actions or an options wheel in the middle of the screen with all the possible options for interact with objects or vehicles. In other words... few evolution and more of the same. Let's C ya

Yes you guys are right. I think that any gameplay features are going to be shown at E3 or the alpha. That way BI can get feedback on what the community wants and doesn't want. So right now we just have to be patient. What they have shown us so far already looks awesome. I too, am hoping for some gameplay improvements, especially with the ai and weapons handling.

Well it's for various reasons, technical issues of couse one of the reasons. Also palying the vanilla ensures no cheats/exploits are made. Finnaly most mods add things that arent imporant to the hardcore gamer, for intance new modes etc

One more reason is that all the players have a standard game-play expirience on the vanilla using mods disorientate on what each clan-squad has got used to.

Finnaly ArmA has a nice gameplay why change it with mods/addons etc ;)

I'm a senior Flashpoint / Arma player with years of experience under my belt and I prefer vanilla. Especially for SP mainly because it's more stable and Arma is already a highly complex game. That I also take into consideration when evaluating the performance. This is no average tunnel shooter with 3 scripted AI at one time. This is a wide open, sandbox style simulation with sometimes up to 30+ AI teams with subordinates that adapts to different situations in real-time. So yes the computer is pretty busy at times. Still it runs really well on my XPS17 laptop on high settings. I do get occasional drops in FPS but at least I know why and I'm fine with it.

.. and speaking of missions and the editor. Just drag and drop a WF module, civs and maybe vehicles and animals for atmosphere into any chosen map with cities, for example Chernarus or Takistan (my current favorite is Zargabad), add a team and sync with the WF module and voila, you have a perfect unscripted battle where you can plan and execute any type of missions in real-time while liberating the entire map of guerillas. 3 minutes to make but hours to complete. Very nifty.
