R. Gerschwarzenge 0 Posted June 7, 2002 In October my job comes to an end and I probably won't have enough extra money to get an internet connection at home. And I'm probably going to move to another city. But nothing is set in stone so I might be here for alot longer time than expected.

LauryThorn 0 Posted June 7, 2002 Oh, I know some nice people that are from there. But you should try the "navel" of Finland, IMO!
foxer 0 Posted June 7, 2002 I have a question,What makes people join the army ? I don't understand how killing people, running around, digging holes, sleep in mud, getting shot at(i guess this makes it easier to kill people though),mines(having your foot blow off),And Alot of other stuff.Do you have to join ? Or do you get like 40,000 bucks in college money ? I could understand joining the navy/airforce,but i just can't understand joining the army, unless it's something special. I don't mean to be negative or anything i just wonder why.
FallenPaladin 0 Posted June 7, 2002 Well, I`m working in an office now for 2 years and I hate it like hell. I`m looking all day at a 15‘ monitor and have to telephone with pain-in-the-ass-people. The people working here are terrible, too. When I was in the army in 1999-2000 I had a great relationship with the guys in my unit, better than everything I`ve known before. I want to join the army again, because there I can do sports/training/physical exercises in my work time, also I`ll have the ability to see something from the world and of course earn a lot of money. And maybe I`ll be able to study there, too. Your tasks in the army may be boring and nasty from time to time (guard,...) but this is still better than working all live in stupid offices. Another thing that is important to me, is that you get better information regarding the world`s situation, because in the army you get more information containing crisis and war than in civil life. I just want to know what`s really going on out there and play a little role there, too. Maybe that`s simply in my blood...
WKK Gimbal 0 Posted June 7, 2002 Fair enough reasons. Some chose to join on really poor reasons, but you seem to have your act together Good luck

WhoCares 0 Posted June 7, 2002 Disagree as well - the Bundeswehr pays according to BAT and that's not as much as you usually get in the free economy.
LauryThorn 0 Posted June 7, 2002 So FallenPaladin, what kind of thing in the army are you looking for? And what did you do there when you were doing your service? At least you know how to run and hide!

If I fail to get the possibility to study, I`ll try to become officer in a parachuting unit, or maybe in a mountaineering unit, because I like the physical drill. Aufklatscher? FallenPaladin 0 Posted June 7, 2002 Duty in the Saarland would be fine! It`s a very nice countryside!
InRange 1 Posted June 7, 2002 Isn't the Saarland heavily industrialized and all? Anyways, you're not gone yet but good luck anyways.
WhoCares 0 Posted June 7, 2002 In Lebach they have a Luftlande-Sanitaetskompanie - that's the place to go as medic Furthermore I know about a Moerser-Kompanie and they have this nice little toy called Wiesel And no, Saarland is not heavily industrialized. Yes, there are some coal mines (only one is running today) and few running steel mills but it's not like you see chimneys all around and everything would be poluted. In fact it's very green.
