What the @*#* is China up to?

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Strange paterns have been spotted in the wilds of China

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=40.452107,93.742118&hl=de&ll=40.447764,93.744299&spn=0.005201,0.010107&num=1&t=h&vpsrc=6&z=17

http://maps.google.de/maps?q=44+42'40.81%22N+93+31'46.18%22E&hl=de&ll=44.70307,93.511505&spn=0.155441,0.32341&sll=51.151786,10.415039&sspn=22.253302,53.745117&vpsrc=6&t=h&z=12

These are just couple of the strange paterns the Chinese are building out in deserts that are only visable from space.

Wierd or what?

Kind Regards walker

Disruptive Pattern Terrain? :butbut:

That second image is pretty mental. At first I was going to say an artifact or something in the way of the lens, but when you zoom in they're almost certainly track marks. In fact that whole region looks weird from a satellite, almost like sea or lightning.

Hi all

This one appears to be related and looks to have been targeted by a weapon system.

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=40.452107,93.742118&hl=de&ll=40.413774,93.583686&spn=0.001848,0.003294&num=1&t=h&vpsrc=6&z=19

The second link I posted appears to be an initialization and reference grid.

The first link I posted looks like a street map, a possible target test site?

So has China got a space based weapon platform?

That first link you posted cropped in in this video a couple of years ago:

Veering off topic slightly, if you watch from 2:25, you'll notice there's a scale mock up, in China, apparently of the whole Kashmir border.

The second one is most definitely a driving correction facility.

This is China's Space and Military no go land. Them pictures and news about this has been talked about for sometime now, its just Area 51, no one can go there and even the

news or locals know much. Its for testing of new weapons and use of space telescopes etc,.. them gridlines whatever they are would be for marking of cords and positions etc...

Hi all

STGN did you note the similarity of the second patterns sub pattern on the 'vertical' lines to the obvious weapon hit third pattern?

All that whitish stuff arranged in 200m-long lines?

Just Charlie Sheen's daily dose of coke.

Most of the Chinese stuff has been around for years. There's google earth files that point to a bunch of them.

are vehicle tracks (by wheels/tracks), i assume huge training pylon area covering such area to include various uphill/downhil, ground types and terrain differences

It's a large weapons and radar test area, possibly with some old underground nuclear tests as well. The 1st one is widely believed to be something to do with probability of kill by a Semi-Random Pattern release, probably to do with multiple warhead release from ICBMs.

They have close-ups of various structures on this quack website:

http://www.thelivingmoon.com/45jack_files/03files/China_Odd_Things_Afoot.html

The 2nd picture is a desert stabilisation project to stop windblown sand and drifting dunes covering the weapons test areas, roads, railways and small towns. They place bales of straw in a grid pattern on the windward side of the dunes and it decreases the wind speed over the sand. If you zoom in between the grid of roadways, you can see dots arranges in grid patterns which are the bales of straw. The long axis of the grid is parallel with the dunes. If you look to the east you will see diagonal roadways with similar dots between them. It's actually been very successful - China has stopped the Gobi from expanding and is actually reclaiming land.

They are going further and trying to make the desert green again:

Farmers plant grass to stabilise sand dunes. A pattern of dried stalks has been planted to control the desert from expanding

Nothing mysterious and a few minutes of research tell you exactly what it is. Me thinks Walker might already know this and was maybe trying to have some fun with our imaginations? Beware the Walker Troll lol.

PELHAM i think You wrong about the 2nd one, as that would look from space completely different on maximal zoom with good detail precision :)

@DWARDEN you have misread the post (the grid in the picture is not the grid shown on google earth - of course its far too small!)

Wait a mo = I will have to get some screen shots of the straw bales

I will upload them this evening - not got time at the moment.

If you zoom out from that location and go south to the town of Santanghuxiang and then west you will see vast areas with similar markings. The road patterns there are diagonal or zig-zag. If you zoom in between the road ways you will see dots arranged in grid patterns. Those are straw bales or patches of grass planting to stabilise dunes.

well what i see is pattern of tracks by vehicles but there is nothing in between ...

fresh aerial shots or sat data would be more helpful

Here you go then:

That entire area of the Gobi is covered in roadways in various geometric patterns. Look further south between the towns of Santanghuxiang and NaoMaohuxiang you will see an extensive area of it. If you zoom in fully between the roadways you will see groups of dots arranged in a grid. Those are the straw bail plantings. It looks odd because of the lower resolution images compared to more populated areas.

Straw Bail dune stabilisation

Picture further south and west - diagonal road grids:

The giant project is well known among scientists in the fields of desert reclamation and sand dune stabilisation. You will not find much apart from a few old photos because China is sensitive to well deserved claims of environmental destruction. It's possibly a better solution than Kuwait who simply pour oil on the dunes to stop them moving!

Still about Google Earth (so I don't need to open a new thread just to ask it), can someone enlighten me about -81.77443,106.369629?

It's a red line (with a shorter blue line by side). I think it has something to do with the satellite equipment, because that is huge (almost 100km long), but it is discontinued (a small fraction of the line is separated from the rest, at -82.587435,107.037735).

well i'm aware of the Chinese effort to stop desert expansion (at least one was fail) ...

but if rumored success is true then i wish them luck it, would be great if they managed to stall and stop the dune expansion process

@[GR] Operative - RE Antarctic red line

Image border artifact from overlapping pictures? Or some other image artifact or calibration mark. It does not look like a natural feature e.g. meteorite trail, aircraft contrail or satellite trail and it's almost certainly not a surface feature. Noticed the dark blue line, same width that runs parallel from the top? I would say you are correct, something to do with the equipment or Google's editing of the image.

Huge grid array 43.808518,94.439106 (GE coords)

What is this and who made it? By using what equipment (I can't see any human settlements in nearby). Why these lines are perfrectly straight and layered over flat area , mountains and riverbeds too ???
