Arma Noob here

Recommended Posts

I fella's just a quick question I bought Amma2 combined operations, a while back, got into it then left it..

I never installed the operation arrowhead portion, just becuase I thought i learn how to play the original before i started in to that addons.

My question, is OA easier IN you opinon to get the feel for the game or is it just mappack with new Vehicles and weapons.

Im about halfway threw training in Amma2, for the secondtime, I forgot how the game worked so im going threw the training again.

It is definitely NOT just a mappack but features major engine and gameplay improvements. On the technical side OA is better, so starting with it would be no bad idea. There are many new gameplay elements added in OA which are definitely worth a "look in"

Also welcome here :)

OK, I didn't know that, the arma2 training is somewhat confusing when you not really used to it.

I'll get OA instlled and try that... Thanks alot for that..

I find the training missions in OA to be a lot better.
Yes, BIS took note and the training in OA wipes the floor with arma2 standalone.

Dont hesitate to set up OA as combined operation within Arma2 and then fully patch them before playing, plus all betas are for OA/Combined and with allot of latest mods and addons there are plenty to miss out on. I dont think I could have Arma2 standalone OA injected life into it for definite, in many ways.

Thanks alot, Im going to try that. Usually when you get a addon/mappack with games its just the same ole content new maps and hardware. If the training is better im all for it.

Also having both AA2 and OA enables you to install ACE mod and it makes the game much better and more complex

ACE is not dependant on A2 or CO, but on OA.

That said, what the FUCK does your post have to do with this very thread?

It can be a little confusing with the different packages available, I bought Arma2, Reinforcements & Operation Arrowhead (all in disc form) which seemed to cover the lot, however when I found the community and all the mods, addons, islands etc I found a whole world of ‘expansions’ (I know.. its just a term for them), if we are honest every island is like another game, albeit the same genre, its like having a ‘game series’.. marvellous ...

I think the whole thing regards the packages is to help BIS earn a little more money out of the Arma games, and I for one think they should, Operation Arrowhead according to most is outstanding as are all their expansions. BAF & PMC I think were aimed with an eye on the non US market..

The good guys tend to be US every time, which is fine, but can seem to other countries ‘a little Hollywood’... BIS are like most game developers, a little US manic.

‘Lets go kick some ass’…

er, sorry that should read ‘shall we go and kick someone on the bottom’..

OMG, Arrowheads training is much better.. Thanks guys appreciate your Advice.

Hopefully BIS will do this again for Arma3, Arma is a little" what have i Gotten myself into" at first but with more indepth training, and tutorials helps alot.

But about your thread title which leads me to the rules of the forum, I guess you can say im a stickler for rules,

so on that note:

If you start a new thread, please make sure your thread title explains what you want without forcing people to read through your post first.

Thread titles such as "How in the world do I...", "Need help!" or "Will we ever see..." are anything but descriptive.

Oh thanks for the heads up, will try harder to conform to the rules in the future.

What I did was install Combined Operations learnt the very basics and then jumped into a clan. The strength of this game is multiplayer imho. So find a clan that is active and willing to teach you how to operate effectively and jump in. (just dont try to learn to fly in multiplayer).
