Well, we will see tomorrow. I don't dare to make any predictions since they have been as off as they could be so far. I still think that Senegal is the favourite, which gives Sweden a good chance to win wink.gif

Belgium and England should make the most of their last games in the world cup smile.gif<span id='postcolor'>

That gives my a great idea, perhaps some rich country can give the Belgian team some money. The only thing Belgium will have to do is make sure that Ronaldo, rivaldo and all those other "good" players are hurt so bad that they won't be able to play the rest of the cup. This way, the country that gives the money to us has a good chance of beaten Brazil in one of the next rounds, so the chance that the country that pays us wins the cup gets bigger and bigger. AAAAAND with the money that the Belgian team earned we'll be able to get the best trainers, fields, players, etc

And with our new team (that is unbeatable) we will win the next world cup. biggrin.gif

What a great idea!

Now, what country offers the most money?

Im sure if you fowarded that idea to some of the British Tabloids like The Sun for instance they would immediatly start raising money for it.. tounge.gif

England might need a bit of Belgium viciousness to make it past Brazil (who they play next friday....assuming Belgium dont fluke it)

GO BELGIUM!

Get that testosterone pumping and those vicious tackles worked out...

-when is the Belgium-Brazil game?

Some interesting articles on the effect of the World Cup on Japan. Sport as a mechanism of social change? wow.gif

They look more likely to convert to football than the USA were in their World Cup anyway

And England turn out not to be a bunch of Hooligans-

Yepp, they have really behaved this year. I think that one could easily say that England has the best and most solid fan base. Did you hear how loud they sang "God save the queen" and "Rule Britannia" today?

I would say that the English fans are Second behind South Korea and Japan who are joint first. They've mightily impressed me, from the way they support their own teams to the way each town/city where other teams play it seems the Japanese or Koreans have adopted the teams and show up at the games wearing that team's colours and face paint and then proceed to shout and cheer their support as vocally and loyally as the fans from that country, I'm sure there are a few cynics who will sneer at such sporting behaviour but personally I think it's magnificent smile.gif

also, Japan and Korea both tried to block hooligans entering their country rather aggressively. They coordianted with that countries' law enforcement agency to get list of ppl who were dimmed to be hooligans and deny visa.

Dunno about other countries but here in the motherland known football hooligans have to turn over their passport to the police while a football tournament is on smile.gif

It seems to have worked very well in Japan & Korea. No problems like in France '98. I think really as for organization goes, this WC could easily be the best in recent history.

Well, I'm off to bed. Big match tomorrow at 08:30 local time. smile.gif

Half time Sweden Senagal 1-1. Sweden started off good, but currently they suck big time. I am still pretty confident that they will get their shit together and win. Well, we'll see in less then one hour. smile.gif

Sad.GIF

Sweden lost on golden goal. That sucks big time sad.gif

We deserved to win because we played better, especially in the second half and during extra time. However this is football, so one should not be surprised.

Good for Senegal, I hope they win the quarters too.

nice one senegal

and to think the odds at the start of the world cup for senegal to lift it was 200-1 might have been worth a flutter. biggrin.gif

Senegal deserved that win!<span id='postcolor'>

I almost agree.

I'd say it was pretty even.

Senegal dominated large portions of the game, and wiped the ass of the swedish defense many times sad.gif

But Sweden had some great opportunities, and kept on fighting and keeping their concentration.

Could have gone either way, with no great unjustice.

In the end, a brilliant goal by the Senegal settled the score.

From his bad mistake in the 4:th minute it was obvious that Denmark would not make it. Maybe they were a little arrogant after beating France. Incredible cheap misstakes in the first half...

I really hope the Swedish guys go out hard tomorrow. Sweden is NOT favourites there! Those damn Senegaleses might take win their first WC!<span id='postcolor'>

And Thomas Sřrensen actually had the ball but didn't get a firm grip on it, whereafter it went in. Really sad as the day before he was talked about as one of the top-5 keepers around sad.gif
