[frl]myke 14 Posted August 26, 2011 At first i suggest you start using some proper punctuation as your text is horribly to read also i suggest you look at some of the tutorials which can be found in the stickied threads after all modelling is a process where some points and planes build up a structure that hopefully resembles of what you wanted to create and with all due respect i think it will take you much more time than just one weekend to learn even just the basics so i suggest you start with something easier like let's say a barrel to get used to the modelling software. jagheterjan 10 Posted August 26, 2011 (edited) I see what you did there, Myke. :D @ OP: To second Myke's notion, if you check the BI Wiki, you'll find Mondkalb's Addon Tutorial which should give you a basic understanding of what's needed to get a 3D model ingame with ArmA. Except from that, try to aim low for now and start with easy geometry like cargo boxes, rockets and stuff. Modelling and animating human shapes in Oxygen isn't exactly the easiest thing to start with. Edited August 26, 2011 by jagheterjan I love you too ;)
PuFu 4600 Posted August 26, 2011 (edited) i would also agree with mykes idea that you should be starting with some very basic thing such as a barrel box or similar o2 is not the easiest software to use and the information and tutorials are scattered all around the place moreover once you get used with the tools provided you will need to understand an addon layout as well as configs and painting weight one weekend is almost impossible even for someone with a very high learning skills once the tools are understood you should begin by modelling the human mesh the sample provided by bis should help there good luck oh and i believe if you manage to post as it should the people willing to help you out will be more numerous edit dam it cakes Edited August 26, 2011 by PuFu
max power 21 Posted August 27, 2011 to be honest i would start with something simpler a human model usually requires some knowledge and techniques that come with some experience i think starting to model a human mesh with all of its anatomy and proportion issues as well as mesh flow definition and deformation issues might be a bit daunting for a first project i might suggest trying to do some props first start trying a chair or something quite simple and work your way up to more organic shapes this will help you get a handle on the tools so you can just focus your energy on getting the character to look right without worrying so much about the technology
dcvm 10 Posted October 22, 2011 As for me, modelling a soldier is not such a hard task. The basic human models were made by BIS, you need just to create (or just simply take it from somewhere for the first time ;)) some gear. But writing configs and texturing could take much more time and skill.
