Arma2 Free - can't see any good servers

I've got the "real" (paid) Arma2 and OA. It's really great in multiplayer. However, for the purpose of testing I've installed Arma2 Free.

To my great surprise in MP I can't see any of the popular servers I'm usually seeing in Arma2/OA. I'm referring to all those great DAO.NU, Arma2.ru and other servers where there's always dozens of players in the afternoon and you can have great fun. In Arma2 Free there's literally one highly populated server and I can't see the others from the paid version at all.

Is it beacuse Arma2 Free by design doesn't support those servers? If so, what's the point of giving people a "free" Arma2, if even the multiplayer is crippled and you can only play with other owners of Free - and not with the existing community?

That's because most of the good missions require Combined Ops, and most of the community has moved on from Arma 2 to Combined Ops a long time ago. Whether or not the server owners want to host for A2Free is their business.

A&S ProMode (ArmA II version) is available on the A2:FREE - PvP: A&S ProMode server.

There is a mission cycle active and AI mode active (for eight or less players present).

The admin password is 1.

ArmA2.ru servers (AAS, Warfare, Evolution) are certainly very populated in the evening of MSK.

They are almost daily with 20-30+ players on each.

What was your ping to the server, what was your FPS during the match, what was the server's FPS (some missions will report server FPS to clients).

What were the server specs on the server you were playing on, how many people were there?

There's tons of factors that can lead to a laggy match.

being that all retail servers have to be patched to 1.10 before they're compatable with A2F I think you need to allow the community more than 1 day before complaining that there's no servers.

Now my clan is a tactically minded squad, coming from years of Swat3/4 coop, and for a small handful of us (4 or 5 out of 30+ members) A1/A2/A2OA and I can only applaud BI for having the balls to do this, I have long had problems getting more of my clanmates to join me in the ArmAverse as the negativity that still surrounds this series (i.e poor performance and bugs which I feel is unfair) puts people off buying the game and the demo didn't do the game justice.

I can now recommed my clan mates to get the game for free - spend some time showing them the ropes as it were and hopefully convince them that the game is at a level of maturity and stability that warrants a purchase of Combined Ops with all the lovelyness that OA brought to the party....here's hoping.
