LondonLad 13 Posted February 24, 2011 For those interested and are not aware; Windows 7 Service Pack 1 has been released to the Public. I've installed mine via the integrated 'Microsoft/Windows Update' feature. http://windows.microsoft.com/installwindows7sp1 Mine was around an 80MB update as I tend to keep my machine pretty much up-to-date with MS Updates/Patches (your's may vary). jblackrupert 14 Posted February 24, 2011 (edited) Helpful program for doing updates http://www.autopatcher.com Great for: - Patching systems with no or slow connections - Offline patching after Windows installs Just download the patches every month or so and burn the files on DVD and you can patch several systems without downloading them each and every time. How it works http://www.autopatcher.com/AutoPatcher.pdf Edited February 24, 2011 by jblackrupert
froggyluv 2136 Posted February 24, 2011 Hmmmm, I got an 80073712 installation error while trying to install on a 1 day old fresh new hard drive and retail windows 7 64 bit install. After looking at their tech site, I see quite a few people are having internet connectivity issues so I'll wait a bit before trying to install this beast again. max power 21 Posted February 24, 2011 I had the same problem, then windows update installed the 'system readiness tool'. I rebooted and I installed no problems.
froggyluv 2136 Posted February 24, 2011 Just tried that -Code error 80200053 -on that one LOL! Blah, I'll just have to wait a whiles -is there anything that important on that pack anyways?
max power 21 Posted February 24, 2011 Nothing that you need to get right this instant, I don't think. I think the explanation said that it had some compatibility, stability, and immunity fixes and Windows now remembers what folders you had open when you shut down and restart or something. froggyluv 2136 Posted February 24, 2011 (edited) Ahh ok, thanks. Im downloading the file directly from MS so hopefully this'll do the trick. Even tho I probably dont need it, not having it bothers me like a scab that needs picking. Edit: after a 903 MB file dl, "Data is Invalid" :O Edited February 24, 2011 by froggyluv

5133p39 16 Posted February 26, 2011 Just a little interesting note: Before i installed the servicepack, the Dragon Age 2 Demo freezed the computer two times during 5 minutes of playing (using DX11), forcing me to hard reset the computer, and then CTD three times (using DX9). Then i got pissed off, and stopped trying. Yesterday i installed the service pack and after that, when a friend visited me, and i wanted to show him the DA2 demo, to my big surprise it worked perfectly ok. Suddenly i was able to Alt+Tab to desktop and back, and i finished the demo (took approx. 1.5 hours) without any problems. Now i am not saying the SP1 is the cure for all problems (hell no, maybe it even adds some new ones), but it seems there is something good in it after all. johncage 30 Posted March 1, 2011 the patch fixed a crucial( see freezing, constant restarts) error that i have experienced for over 6 months since purchasing the os. i really wish there was a convenient way to make microsoft accountable for pulling this kind of crap. and here i was being led around by microsoft specialist into rma'ing my hardware when it was their software all along.
