C5 or c17, anyone?

After seeing the Hercules post it hit me... How about a C-5 Galaxy?? if thats too big for you i got the smaller C-17 Globemaster in the back hand.

Then we would have (made after size: 1 is huge 2 is medium and 3 is small)

1 C-5 Galaxy

2 C-17 Globemaster

3 C-130 Hercules

If we get the C-5 the paratrooper problem is solved for some time...

I'll continiue downloading the update for OPF so i can fly the C-130 or any of theese in the future.

The C5 Galaxy is a bit overkill, don't you think?

The C-130 is almost too large for OFP universe, how do you expect a C5 to fit in there?

Anyway, the C-130 will solve all our HALO, and massive paradrop problems...

I think it's too ugly from the front, and it's one big ass plane:

What tarmac you´d be using for getting a C-5 in the air, build one thats 2,5 Km long, or attach space shuttle boosters to the Galaxy, so it could even take off from an aircraft carrier catapult? Or design it as an unsuable object similar to the LST?

For those ain´t familiar with sizes of this "thing":

I don't think the C-5 would be able to use any of the runways in the islands, and unless you have thought of a very good reason to transport hundreds of soldiers around, it wouldn't be very useful. The C-17 is STOL, so it could possibily land at Everon and Malden. I would like to see a new island with a big airport and a big city (population of a few thousands), or a portion of a REALY big city. Shouldn't be that hard, we already have a brand new island and whey didn't even have o2...

it doesn't have to land, it's just more scenery, intro show the plane over the ocean with some cutscene, mission start you are doing a HALO over everon, and as you go down you hear the engines slowly fading

But a c-130 would do that just fine and it could land and take off too. You are never gonna need a c-5 because i doubt anybody is ever gonna make a mission with 300 paratroopers,

I dont know the length of the runway in Redding, CA but its a small aiport and they have flown C5's out of Travis AFB to Redding municiple.

the c130 is an amazing plane at the airshow it just slammed its arse on the runway stopped in a few secs with revers thrust and took off again without even using half the runway they rock.

Sorry dude, airborne ops are never conducted out of a C-5. The biggest plane used is the C-141.

well, u can have 64 from each side... so u can have 64 west troops, 64 ressistance troops and 64 civilian troops.

thats 64 groups per side you can have over 250 objects on screen. Make 64 full squad for each side and jam em in on one area so u can see em all at once or try in a forrest, and make em heavy grenade shoulders and watch your frame rate drop on your 2.4ghz p4 with 2g ram and 64 gf4 vid card

Yes i want to drop a lot... as well as supplies and, hold on now, Tanks and APC's... This sounds interesting for me... maybe i'll give it a try...

Myself i'm sceptic and waited theese replies so i would also accept the c-17 Globemaster.

And i know they ain't used for paradropping but think at the possiblilities..

as i'm writing these words i smell... Petrol.... Reminds me of C-5 Galaxy engine smell.

Anyways also see the modeling trouble too but you got to agree this is interesting, Right?

I know the sizes... In a flight sim i have seen the C-5 in a rather unpleasant view.... Let me tell you:

I came flying up behind the enemy C-5 and had a lock, out of missiles i selected the gun.

Had token some damages by the Galaxy's escort so my cannon jammed and next thing i sensed was my closure rate going way high on HUD and The C-5 was close.

CRASH sound could be heard all over the farmland (over Ethiopia) My nice F-22 had entered the Galaxy's cargo door smashing it and blowing up both me and the C-5......
