BF1943 sneaks out for PC

Recommended Posts

Not released yet (source: blokey who phoned EA customer service posting on UK forum). Probably somebody pushed the button too early.

Still, can't be long if this has shown up ... right? I think I'll wait and check that a decent number of people buy it, don't want noone to play against after DICE/EA have naffed PC users around for so long.

Compared to console titles I suppose it's not too bad though the PC version was superior. It still wasn't Battlefield 3 though and by the looks of it neither will Battlefield 3.

Who would buy this now?

DICE should've had that planned for release back whenever the hell the console ones came out.

Jeez talk about being late to the party.

I would. It has advantage over BC2 - bigger, better maps and planes.

BC2 was good on pc, but the effect it had on me disappeared after 3 weeks. And it arrived at a time where i had nothing else to play iirc. After that i fell back on ArmA2 again.

If i was about to install BF3 on my pc but would somehow recognize 20 ppl play Insurgency on Kelly's Heroes right at that moment BF3 would go on my shelf for later. ;)

Yeah, the McShooters tend to get old very quickly, despite their pretty graphics and shiny polish. I remember when BC2 came out, some of my mates were trying to persuade me to buy it. I refused, insisting that they would be off it again in less than a month. They insisted that I was insane, because the game was totally awesome and they would surely be playing it for years to come... :pistols:

... a few weeks later:

Me: "So, you still playing BC2?"

Friend: "Nah, got boring."

;)

Yeah, while I think BC2 definitely did a better job than MW2, their attempt to simply capitalize on Activision's mistake of completely ignoring their PC fanbase seemed nothing more than a selling point, not something they actually cared about. Sure there was a PC interface and dedicated servers, but there was virtually no post-release support despite it desperately needing it (M93R still has a missing texture in 3rd and 1st person, M16 still has a missing texture in 3rd person, the Instant Action feature still doesn't work). It left a bad taste in my mouth and gave me a bad feeling when playing the game, and I stopped soon after. Then came Medal of Honor and DICE concentrated all of their resources on it rather than their just released BC2, and the MOH beta royally sucked, so even further dissatisfaction.

So far the only games that have stood the test of time for me are Valve's classics but, more importantly, all of BIS' games since OFP. No game has ever kept me playing them as long as I have with OFP, ArmA and Arma 2. The fact that I still play and edit OFP from time to time, 9 years on, is enough proof. :p
