a laptopp to play ARMA 2

Recommended Posts

Hey, i love this game, but my computer kinda ruins the experience. I am considering to buy a new computer, if you have any sugestions please post it here. It has to be a laptop because i am often not home when i play. I want to be able to play arma 2 on high/highest settings and i am willing to pay about 1500 dollars. Any sugesstions will be apreciated.

I have a Dell Studio XPS 16 That works quite well if you dont mind lowering some of the settings.

  • i7 Processor 620M(2.66GHz,4MB
  • 4096MB 1333MHz Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM [2x2048]
  • 1GB ATI® Radeonâ„¢ HD 4670 graphics card
  • 500GB (7,200rpm) Free Fall Sensor Hard Drive

Make sure you get atleast a 7200rpm hard drive. It makes a huge difference to the game when playing on lower spec machines.

I use the ACER Aspire 5740G.

-i3 330M, 2.13GHz

-4GB RAM

-512MB ATI Radeon 5470

-320GB Hard Drive

Runs Arma 2 pretty well, doesn't cost a lot either. I think I bought it for.. £540.

Edit:

Yeah, Nemesis, would help if I say how it runs :v

I can run it high, except for shadows, which are on normal, and AA disabled. 2500 view distance.

'Well' is relative, personally i wouldnt want to play on it. ;)

You may want to give rough settings and FPS estimates.

This one looks tempting and reasonable to. What settings do you use?

I just bought a alienware MX11 with i7 and 4 gig ram. It runs arma2-CO just fine :) Better than I thought, smooth and good looking imho.

Its a small netbook so if you want a "proper" game laptop go for something bigger. I love it due to its size! Its small and lightweight so I can use it wherever and I also fly helicopter quite often and there weight matters.

Invest in a cooling pad or some sort of external fan. After destroying an enemy ammo dump with satchel charges to complete a lengthy secops mission, the smell of burning plastic and rubber turned out to be emanating from my video card and not Chernarus.
