I had such errors a lot from various community websites - until I just disabled it in Firefox.

Remind me not to download any of your addons :biggrin: Viruses are a very serous thing man, they can destroy all the files that you cherish the most, even cause damage to computer components in some cases, slow down your PC and all those kinds of unpleasant things. You don't have to spend a fortune on ant-virus software, you can get a free program like Avast Anti virus, which is free to download and offers daily free updates for ever (A fine Czech product, I got to know it when I was still living in the Czech Republic trough one of those library CD's with software and I can tell you, for 8 years not one virus has passed Avast, really,:butbut: I cant recommend it enough)

Anyway your error is caused by Google Chrome, I had the same thing when I was testing it, I also had it with many other sites so don't worry BIS isn't trying to infect our computers (but then again you never know :D just kidding)

Viral threats (in its original meaning) are the becomming less and less harmfull. On another note malware and spyware is skyrocketing the last couple of years.

If u run you're PC without any firewall or decent antiviri/spyware software u give the authors a reason to write those crappy scripts.

I scan once in a while using a bunch of different free scanners but never keep an anti-virus installed on my PC. Havent been infected in years.

Hey guys, i wanted to inform the people ( and you ) that this isnt a false alarm.

here it goes :

'forums.bistudio.com contains elements from footmunch.co.uk'

In other words : Someone uses a Signture image that hosted on footmuch.co.uk which obiously hosted malware/virusses in the past.

It could be an infected image-file, or the site's webpage contained malicious javascript.

Ha! thats a good one. but how do you know that you never had a virus, if you dont have any detection software?

as stated above, virusses can be encapsulated in image files, you dont have to browse to 'shady' websites to catch a virus, the image posted by threadstarter is a perfect example.

Be smart: use a virus-scanner ( actually, if you are using chrome or firefox, u'r using the safebrowsing 'antivirus' from google )

Now, What generated this 'Virus Alert' message?

The user Footmuch has posted a picture from a 'malware marked' domain.

And trust me : if google gives this error, its 99.9% sure that domain/server has been infected ( in the recent past )

Im using firefox, and that thread doesnt show any pictures from that domain ( maybe its silently blocked - when i want to open the picture i get a firefoxed blocked page.

Now, when we ignore that msg, i get this :

Not Found

The requested URL /temp/fence1.jpg was not found on this server.

Apache/1.3.29 Server at footmunch.org.uk Port 80

Which indicates that footmunch has desinfected his webserver by deleting all files LOL

i suggest that moderators should inform the user that posted the 'infected material' about this notice.

As a forum-owner you dont want people be scared to browse your forums.

As a website owner, you dont want to have malware in your CMS.

Users that expirience these 'alerts' on the BIS forums should send a PM to the moderators staing the exact URL where the alert pops up.

Footmunch hasn't been active on here since Feb 09 so it's more than likely his domain expired and someone else less pleasant came along and took over, I deleted the post in question which instigated this thread but it's unlikely that I can find and delete other posts he's made in the past.
