"Watch this position" problem

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I would like to know how to make ai stop watching a position I told them to watch in order to realign the turret in the general direction I am driving...to set it back to default.

Right now if I tell the ai to watch a direction they will be looking at that pos forever.

Any advice welcome.

2-1 Cancel Target/No Target.

In Arma2 I had to order a HMMWV gunner out of the vehicle before it took effect though. If you want to do a communications menu you can also order him to target/watch (not sure which) your own vehicle. Will have same effect but you don't have to get the gunner out of the vehicle in order to do so. Not sure if this is still the case in OA though.

You can try telling them no target. I think that has worked for me sometimes. Or maybe disengage.

Either the above or set the Ai whose looking/gunner to "regroup" even if they are already but stuck watching that direction you told them(oddly enough)... when it comes to "watch direction". That works with infantry and i would imagine any AI looking at a certain place you told them too. It stops them "looking" and then they default back to normal watching directions.

Or set them the next view you want them. Mainly I set them to danger - scan horizon ... doesn't seem to stop them finding a target.

Thx!

I'll try that and report how it worked.

BTW disengage and no target doesn't not work for me.

Scan horizon tells the Ai to scan the horizon so he basically spins slowly in a circle, hence scan horizon.

as for watching a direction, make sure the ai is with you, so tell them 1,1 fall

back in formation (ya I know hes in a humvee looking at a direction) and

then 7,2 for danger, 3,5 for engange at will and then 3, 8 and then pick a number for watching a certain direction.

or

just tell him 1,1 to return to formation which brings him back to your control,

its really formation, just falling in, and then tell him 3, 8 and then pick

the number related to the direction you want him to look.

i press 3, 4.

basically fire modes then engage. always works to get them off watch direction.

wish there were more fire modes corresponding to what the player needs.
