thermal vision

Recommended Posts

I think I may have to correct you on this one ;)

true setCamUseTi 6; //Really strange syntax if you ask me...

Values as far as I could figure out:

0 - White Hot

1 - Black Hot

2 - Green Hot

3 - Green Cold (Same as Black hot but with green colors)

4 - Orange Hot

5 - Orange Cold (Same as Black hot but with green colors)

6 - Spectrum? (Not sure what to call this mode)

7 - Blue Cold (Very high contrast, unsure what it relates to)

Works for cameras. And some of the modes I've seen in different weapon systems, such as that orange thing for the Metis launcher.

Rad. I was only aware of the numbers up to 5. They were mentioned in another thread. That's great news, especially for xps!

Except that OA simulates it better than real life. The resolution and contrast seems far too good to my untrained eye.

That's not necessarily impossible with current gen FLIR.

check 1:24, there is an amazing difference.

By the way, CarlGustaffa what are you talking about there? Is this an sqs, something you put in missions, init field or? Reason I ask is I'd like to take the greyscale FLIR out for something I'm working on and replace it with green. Like this perhaps http://www.steelbeasts.com/sbwiki/images/thumb/8/87/M1A1%28HA%29_TIS_10x.jpg/800px-M1A1%28HA%29_TIS_10x.jpg

That is something i would also like to know. It seems that CG is talking about script Command (i am unable to find anything related around).

There is the config entry HERE for the same thing, although i can't see 7

No doubt that product advertisement was made in the most optimal circumstances possible.

Pardon but how does one enable these? Are they init, sqs..? I am not at all scripting or coding savey so I have no idea but TI2 and TI3 is EXACTLY what I am looking for..

As for the FLIR, probably but that's not to say they haven't come a long way, have a look around, look at some pictures, watch some videos and see for yourself.

http://www.lockheedmartin.com/products/Arrowhead/ArrowheadVideo1.html here is a great comparison of gulf war era dated FLIR to a more modern FLIR on the Block III AH-64.

Yeah, and notice how trees are not cold.

Could be any number of things, regional temperature, product equipment, what it was created for.

Remember H series was made for ground use so their mainly looking for people and objects, possible that Arrowhead/Pathfinder is more sensitive in what temperatures it can see, would you want to fly in a helicopter where you could not see the tree's or small things such as power lines?

I'm sure it's possible to make FLIR less distinguisheable ingame, perhaps noise filters.

I used CG script command:

create a camera (i guess using exec "camera.sqs" should also work), and then assign the code(true setCamUseTi X) to radio triggers (on act), set on repeat. Works solely with the camera (well since it is a camera thing)

For configs, i already posted a link on previous page, with the exception of TI 6 beeing different than in VBS2 i suppose

class CfgVehicles;
      class Vehicle;
              class ViewOptics;
                      TImodes[]={x,y};

//where x,y can be values from the list posted. IE: {0,1}

OH thank you thank you, camera.sqs worked like a charm.

The joys of playing with FLIR just went up a notch..though one quick question, cfg I'm assuming goes with vehicles, does then means if we were to say use a tank, add this to the config then it would override the thermal for ONLY that tank? Everyone else gets greyscale tank gets say, green?

I think Ti 7 is influenced on weather..I went up to full sun and a vehicle turned green, going lower and lower to rain however it went from yellow to orange to red then pink the further I went down the slider.

http://img412.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=thermal1.jpg link contains 6 examples

that flir+night= lightshow and possible headache from color changing.. apparenatly if you are close enough to a hot source such as a human, and at night, the thermal will over compensate and this is what you get. http://img834.imageshack.us/img834/379/whitefocus.jpg

Later after testing apparently weather effects ALL thermal modes..so for people saying there isnt enough color difference you may want to tinker with the weather in your missions, it seems to make a difference.

No worries, you have my gwave, as well as skype, you should have asked :)

Yes, just like everything else with config inheritance really :)...

You can have say gunner have black/white HOT on grey, and commander black/white hot on green.

Are you sure that is me? I've never heard of gwave, perhaps you are thinking of someone with a similar name???

As for the FLIR.. well this just makes things soo much better, I'm wanting to use green thermals on my eventual abrams to get it closer to Steel Beasts and I was worried I'd have to stick with greyscale, this helps A lot.
