ball0fire 10 Posted August 1, 2010 so as the titles suggests, is it normal for the game to not see anything (other than a heat source) at night time in the winter months (northern hemisphere) with a TWS scope or flir? i tried it in the editor. May throo to October at midnight you can see tree's buildings etc etc and you can get a general idea where you are looking cos you can see stuff. but if you choose November to April you cant see anything unless you stumble upon a heat source, its just a black screen , or white if you reverse it
vinc3nt 10 Posted August 1, 2010 i can confirm this. All i see is total back; and the only visible things are the white heat sources

sick1 13 Posted August 2, 2010 Maybe because there is no heat source in winter.
MadJackChurchill 10 Posted August 2, 2010 Maybe because there is no heat source in winter. To add this... Just think about it, in the summertime the ground is heated by the sun and the heat persists till late in the evening or throughout the night. In the winter the sun is weaker so at night the ground heat dissipates quickly. Pretty cool that BIS took that into account.
BelgarionNL 10 Posted August 22, 2010 hmm i barely have any clear visual of enemy tanks or people! in the winter or summer... but then again thats probably because i am in a spectre gunship at 1300 meters away :D
Beagle 684 Posted August 22, 2010 TI is no all round wonder instrument. It has advantags and it has drawbacks. Usually you would need to get visual ID after detecting "something hot" on TI...since you can't really differenciate friend from foe on TI in any cases. In gaming this leads to a lot of Friendly Fire since OA introduced it. You now read quite often "sorry could not hold you apart on TI" in the chat. I once shot a Shilka because it looked like a M1 from my aspect in METIS TI. That TI has problem in very cold and very hot condition is know, and it is awesome that this is simulated. Did you notice that rocks in the sun look hotter as such in shadows?
