Reign's End, a story of Chernarussian independence

This is an announcement of Reign's End, a work-in-progress campaign that tells the story of Chernarussian independence. It will not feature a major conventional conflict, but rather the undertakings of political groups under the watchful eye of the Red Army.

Story synopsis:

The campaign is set in 1991, a year when the Soviet Union is engulfed in financial crises and internal conflict. Chernarussian nationalists see it as an opportunity to wriggle the Chernarussian autonomous republic away from Russia. However, the majority of the ethnic Russian population doesn't want that to happen in fear of becoming second class citizens and a hated minority, and the civilian administration aims to keep the republic under USSR's protection. The growing separatist movement will have to use underhanded means to change the status quo while avoiding direct conflict with the Red Army.

When will it be released?

This year if all goes well. Most of the missions are ready on the idea stage, the biggest challenge will be to create adequate cutscenes and dialogue and making the AI do what it's supposed to do.

Does the campaign ravage the well thought out and holy canon of the BIS game universe and official continuity?

Of course not, why would you even ask? Background information and continuity have been taken into account by studying all the factoids on arma2.com, the AAN site and the game itself.

Why announce a campaign that is a light-year from release?

So that it could be released in the first place. I get very lazy in the absence of pressure.

What does the project need?

Czech and Russian voice acting and natural sounding dialogue translation would be great. A custom addon that includes the P85 Red Army soldiers without extra models or secondary addon dependencies could save tons of megabytes when the campaign is released. If you can provide any of those, please contact me!

sounds good. im interested in how the missions will pan out. guerrilla warfare, subterfuge, bombings, or more direct action? I know you are an amazing scripter, so you can pull off some great stuff (based off your awesome DM packs for arma1)

so, every couple weeks should we make some posts begging for updates only to have the mods scold us saying that when there are updates they will be posted? :D

im down for that. we need more campaigns. especially non-us campaigns

This sounds great, I was actually thinking of a mission idea like this a while ago but it never really came to anything. One question I guess I have is how are is the whole population of Chernarus going to change their minds to become independent, as I don't see how a group of nationalists could do it on their own?

I'll throw you bones to chew on when real progress is made. But no begging please. ;)

The Soviet Union's unwillingness to waste lives and resources in a time of pre-existing crisis is a factor among others.

P85 also has Chernarus soldiers of Cold War era under independent.

I did check them but they look like just a greener variant of DDR soldiers. The militia unit under CDF looks just right.

Btw, you should replace Master Chief with Halo in your sig. :p
