Old news. As I've said in most other IS themed addons: I wouldn't worry about all this. As most Brits are aware, the Daily Mail (and now similar that have picked up on this) is a load of sensationalised rubbish, and rarely contains any actual factual information in their so called "news" articles. They've based this article on minimal fact, probably seeing the screenshots for these mods and jumping to ridiculous conclusions. They're not claims, or allegations, it's made up nonsense. Think about it logically, if you wanted to recruit some one to fight for you would you use ArmA? If anything it would be an eye-opener to how dangerous combat really is and if anything would hinder your chances. It's simple - it was a slow news day about IS, some troll at the Daily Fail Googled IS, saw ArmA mods in the images and made up a story, and now more rubbish online "news" organisations have jumped on the bandwagon. -
Nope, as I mentioned in my post. Hopefully there will be some alternatives in the future, but understandably cross-mod compatibility may not be an urgent issue to Drongo.

Looking forward to trying out this new version. Just a quick thought - having the unit require a radio to use the interface is a nice idea until it comes to mods like Task Force Radio or ACRE, which in most cases replace ItemRadio with their own variations. Is it possible to have this as an option? Or another alternative - make the required item one of the UAV Terminals, as that would be used frequently by some one playing a FAC/JTAC role.

Authentic Gameplay Modification

Been trying out the fast roping and I have to say it's the best system I've seen to date. One issue I have noticed though, which seems hard to replicate as its a random occurrence: Sometimes you will be killed by the rope on landing. It's almost like the rope hits you or you take fall damage. As I said, very hard to replicate and I'm not really sure what's causing it either. -
Ah yeah thanks my bad, it's been a while and I thought I had watched it on a Daily Mail link - it was probably posted up there too. Must've been a slow day at Daily Mail though, seems like they resorted to trawling through Google images for "IS" and seeing what they could make a story of. I'd say enough of all this, already old "news".

They've based this article on minimal fact, probably seeing the screenshots for these mods and jumping to ridiculous conclusions. The same thing happened years ago when the Daily Fail used footage from ArmA2 videos in a "news broadcast" about the IRA.

Absolutely I agree with that, and I just disabled AGM_Hearing to sort it. I was actually trying to make sure this thread doesn't fill up with posts asking for the method to be changed but it seems to have backfired a bit because of crossed wires.
-
Yeah I did read it. I get that audiblefire is changed across the board by this mod, as shown in your changelogs, which I admit I hadn't looked through previously. However, what I'm saying is because of this AGM_Hearing is not compatible unless you want to be deafened by all weapons. Like I said before I'm not expecting it to be compatible, but this is more of a note to all future AGM+ASR_AI users who search this thread. If I'm wrong there then I apologise.

Authentic Gameplay Modification
EddiePrice replied to koffeinflummi's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Quick question: Sometimes when firing an LMG or MG or when riding on the skids of a helicopter (at altitude) I get a desaturated effect. Is what I'm experiencing the AGM dust kick up from AGM_Goggles? It seems to be more of a random occurrence, so even when dust is apparent the effect is not and seems to occur randomly. -
Userconfig is set up correctly. When disabling ASR_AI, this entry in the config viewer goes back to normal. I'm not sure if the two things are linked, but it seems to change something as when I use ASR_AI and AGM_Hearing together, even 6.5mm and 5.56mm cause hearing loss when they don't without ASR_AI running. Obviously I don't expect you to be AGM compatible but I'm just raising the issue in case anyone else has had it and can help me out. Regardless, audiblefire entries for all weapons must be adjusted by this mod otherwise this wouldn't be happening, and as AGM_Hearing uses this value for it's combat deafness I'd say they're not compatible.
-
A quick observation after a bit of testing: It seems that asr_ai3_main_gunshothearing coefficient doesn't turn off when setting the value to 0. I've checked in the config viewer and it seems to stay constant no matter what the value. This has been researched after running AGM_Hearing with ASR AI causes all rifles to deafen you as the value for the audible range is effected.
-
I've always had camera vibration. Seems to have been unaffected by any patches so far, almost constant since release. Seems to get worse with higher altitudes. Only benefit now is being able to lock or fix the turret. I'd like to see the sounds disabled for the UAV feeds. I don't know if its possible because of the way the game works, but its entirely pointless and incredibly distracting when all you can hear is the drone through the feed and nothing else going on around you.

What do you think of ArmA3's futuristic setting?
EddiePrice replied to Sub-Human's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Entirely up to the mission maker to change your experience - sure if you just put down AI they'll come out to play but with some clever tweaking you can achieve any result you want. I would tend to agree, but also would say Altis and Stratis have very little range. Chernarus could be anywhere in eastern Europe and Takistan the middle east, allowing for hundreds of settings and missions. Altis and Stratis are just Greece and couldn't be anywhere else. The same generally applies to ArmA3's stock content. It's almost like you're forced to play the scenario BI layed out in the campaign rather than create your own. -
Infiltrator_2K can you tell us your server specs and what type of mission you are running. Might give us a better chance of actually troubleshooting the issue.

What do you think of ArmA3's futuristic setting?
EddiePrice replied to Sub-Human's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Erm? Thanks... Seriously though, there is the argument that the amount of gear used nowadays isn't a direct result to combat the equipment and training of a militia. Of course this is a tangent but modern day equipment is used to combat the means by which current insurgent/terrorist/whatever groups fight and the tactics they use, which of course can't be reproduced in ArmA without some clever mission or addon scripting. Back on topic, in my opinion ArmA2 and Arrowhead were bang on. Sure there was some inaccuracies but as soon as you start making something modern it's already out of date by the time you finish. ArmA2 and OA had enough scope to range from late 80s/early 90s conflicts right up to modern day. This may also be because of the amount of content but I think the focus of it was also right. -
What I can't get my head round here is the insinuated entitlement in what was taken away from this donation campaign. No one asked for AIA (though a lot of people wanted it, myself included) or forced projects on kju, or any other modders who may feel donations are the only way to "justify" their work. This is why I think the wrong question has been asked. To "do donations work for ArmA modders?" I would respond "Are donations or financial benefits the right way to feel validated?". Based on what I've seen the answer to both with regards to modding any game is no. I for one am sad to see it come to this, but I guess it's the changing face of the community.
-
I can see a pattern developing here. Donations are on the rise, and if people are willing to donate then I don't see a problem with it keeping mods afloat if that's what they need to do so. However, what I would say is that in the old days you didn't see mod teams like FDF, FFUR or more recently ACE, fold up shop because they didn't turn a viable profit. If you need to justify time spent on a hobby, I think you're probably in it for the wrong reasons from the start and probably shouldn't bother.

I'm a fan of all the factions Leight including the Afghan Army and Police etc. Your call at the end of the day, not going to tell you what to do with your own mod, but this pack brings some much needed realistic content for all sides in one go so please consider keeping what's already in the mod.

Kunduz, Afghanistan [10km] v1.20

This is showing some great promise - nice detail on the compounds so far. I'm looking forward to the final release version. -
Either that or kept that €500k in the budget for ArmA3 and pay their own developers to make an expansion the community want to see, not that I have any idea about the financial ins and outs of MANW. Anyway I'd say if you're in this for the money, then prepare to be disappointed. Sure donations might help, but don't be disheartened if the number of donations dont match up to what you think your work is worth.

Please Please BI do not break All In Arma!!... or FINALLY support it!
EddiePrice replied to Tyl3r99's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Although I agree BI should focus on creating more content, I think it's fair to request that they consider popular mods like AIA when releasing patches that may potentially cause issues. Personally if AIA didn't exist I probably wouldn't be playing ArmA3 at all as I rarely use the stock islands for missions. BI create the game but these mods ensure its longevity and it would be great if that was acknowledged more often with continued consideration. -
Arma 3 Sound Missing in Multiplayer
EddiePrice replied to garverick's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
Also get this issue. Seems to always happen with sidearms, regardless of mods, and sometimes happens with rifles as well. I can only guess its a syncing issue in MP. EDIT: Confirmed after extensive testing that loading profiles with a rifle in Arsenal prevents sidearms from being heard in MP. See the bug report here. -

Is it possible for you to tell me which AGM pbo removes the action icon in the middle of the screen? I don't use all the pbos and I'm just wondering which changes this as is seems to have changed since the last update. Thank you! -
Now that I've managed to get V0.5 I also have this bug. Looks like a lighting or normal map issue on the Afghan civies, got an error message when putting them down about the path being wrong.
