  1. I had been hoping to discover Tanoa in Breaking Point. As an environment gamer, the new setting will refresh the survival genre for me. Unfortunately, I keep getting kicked from all servers because of a weapon.cfg related error. Some poking around on the internet tells me that Bohemia have tightened the rules on letting errors go unresolved. This is beyond my understanding of how programs work. Is there a known fix for this problem? I've verified Arma files through steam, and reinstalled the mod as admin, using this guide. http://www.thezombieinfection.com/topic/31742-how-to-fix-most-launcher-problems-in-12-steps/ Still the error persists. I am updated to Apex 1.62. Thanks for any leads, or search terms you could suggest.

    HAFM - Eurocopter EC-635

Great helo. So good that it starts to beg for the fine details. I'm having an issue where it explodes if it tries to land on any building. Are there any solutions for that?
  3. If I understand correctly, Arma 3 removes interdependence of controls. I like to play the rescue helicopter mods. I know it's not flight simming, but the scenery is beautiful. Can't wait for Tanoa. I'd like to be able to add a mod to the list on startup and have, basically TOH in Arma.
  4. Yes, thank you. I have switched to the Advanced flight model, but it's still a simplified flight model compared to TOH. For example, you don't need to apply anti-torque pedal to take off. The ship still points straight forward no matter how much collective you apply.

Any old farts playing Arma 3?

You guys from Response Force Alpha are killing me. Start an evening mil-sim event, I beg you. The website is organized. The conditions and expectations are spelled out exactly. Every bit of information I was looking for was there. Times, time zones, organziation, expectations, age limit; there's a mission statement. It's organzied like a business. I have every reason to believe that you start training and events on time, and when you say they're going to run. If there are enough other older mil-sim guys looking for two nights a week, 20:00h EST, speak up. If you know of a group please let us know. I played in the 15th MEU and they have excellent people, run on time, and provide excellent training framework. The only part I didn't like was how far the mil-sim went out of game. I don't really need to track my ammo count from when I played Arma. Some hard core mil-sim clans have members that hang a bit too much on the ranks as well. I would take a dressing down for not knowing my job in the military since it follows months of day in, day out training. I don't need a dressing down in arma because the boat mod deploys strangely and I'm not familliar with it, and we've never trained on them. My Arma unit is out there somewhere.
  6. I'm looking for Age 30+ mil-sim clans. I found one. http://responseforcealpha.enjin.com/ But their times don't work for me. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

Any old farts playing Arma 3?

I know I'm resurrecting a thread here. Just wanted to add my name to the list of 40+ gamers looking for mil-sim clans where the teenage exposition of identity isn't a nightly thing. Currently I've only found Response Force Alpha, who are min age 30, but the time slot doesn't work for me. If I could join a clan just like theirs but evenings EST, I'd be so happy.... to use a meme that the youth are fond of.
  8. Is it possible to map the axis for turret/mortar controls to a joystick axis? It doesn't seem that putting infantry axis on the joystick will move the turret. Nor does view/turn left Thanks.
  9. I've seen epoch and breaking point. To me these do not have the feel of the DayZ mod. I really loved zoombies, because it had all of DayZ and Arma3 controls and systems. Now with advanced flight, I would love it even more. So my question is: Is there a mod Chernarus or not, that doesn't use DayZ content, but still has the feel of the mod? 2017 may never be done, so if it does release I'll certainly do that, then. However, until 2017, when the team feels pressure to release, I'll be needing something else.
  10. Is there a reason that BI have excluded a simple feature like copying a profile? I know I can copy and edit file names. Why wouldn't it be in the menu?
  11. Dear Bohemia Interactive. Thank you for the advanced helicopter flight model. Thank you. I admire what you have done to add value and realism to the role of helicopter pilot. Your software alone was responsible for launching me into helicopter enthusiasm. I've since tried many other reputed helo simulators. I have to say that I find the control delay rather sluggish on the little bird, and I'm wondering if I can edit that setting locally? I've tried upping the sensitivity of my controller and it makes things worse. I find then, that I get more extreme movements, or two different movements happening long after I would expect a response from the first input. From playing with sensitivity, I think I've determined, that it's the time for input to take effect that feels so different from the xplane/dreamfoil robinson R22 and the DCS Hh-1H. I can see that smoother controls would make the transition from the old flight model, to the new, easier for non-sim-enthusiast pilots. It would be awesome if we had some local control over the inputs and delay to get things feeling as responsive as sim.s which are evaluated by real pilots as being realistic simulations.

    Advanced Helicopter FDM Feedback

Just want to add weight to the control delay issue. If it's a smoothing setting, server level (multiplayer) and player level (single player) would be fantastic. Xplane dreamfoil robinson r22 has good reviews for realism by real world pilots, as does DCS UH-1H; Both feel significantly more responsive to this. I understand that the goal isn't perfectly realistic simulation, but there is an option for legacy, or advanced flight models. The advanced flight model, seems to me like it's going to cater to a sim-enthusiast crowd. I also find that the requirement to use anti-torque is nearly negligible. That may be because I got used to touchy tail rotors in other sims.
  13. This is an old post. I will dredge it up anyhow. I would investigate your control setup. I can take off a hummingbird with no anti-torque. To me the flight model has too little torque.
  14. Hello, I'm looking for a things to troubleshoot related to my high ping in ArmA3. I get pings of 22-30 ms using the command prompt, trace route, both to google, and speedtest.net For some reason, all Arma servers are showing ping rates starting around 160, and I'm frequently getting booted for ping too high with rates like 600. It looks like ArmA is the only thing doing this. Is it possible that my ISP is somehow throttling communications normally associated with gaming? Is it possible that it's a setting in ArmA? I just need to know what to troubleshoot. BattleEye keeps kicking me from servers for high ping. Thanks for ideas.
  15. Of further interest. I get a different initial ping in the list if I put the port with a colon in the first line, than if I put the port in the lower line, of the remote window. Performance seems to be the good rate, regardless of what the listed ping is, as long as I use the remote connect window.
  16. So, I've found a work-around, but I don't understand why it works. If I learn the IP address of the server I wish to join, and use the "remote" button in the bottom right of the server browser, get only that server on the list, and then use the join button in the bottom right, I get proper ping at 23ms. Pings are 100 times this if I double click a server from the list.
  17. Does this outlook on it help you: -just like you train to do an autorotate landing you're going to train to fly without autohover, in the real world Why? Because systems fail. You'd better not NEED it to fly. However, you're playing TOH, not a hardcore sim. Do what you find most fun. Do you like the challenge of flying without it? Good. Is it more enjoyable and less work with it? Good. You're playing a game to enjoy your free time. Don't measure up to some imaginary community's standards in the interwebz.
  18. Is there really zero deadzone on the collective? Even in Arma, with zero deadzone on the collective, I find the helo wants to bob up and down. The smallest deadzone on raise lower collective is easier for me.
  19. I love my current clan, and wouldn't leave but my commitments change during the winder, and I can't make it to platoon training anymore. I'm looking for a clan that is fairly serious mil sim, where people take their commitment seriously and show up when they say they will. Two night per week EST 2000h. Except Thursday and Sunday(limited time 1900-2200) Ideally a bunch of old guys with kids and careers like me. Time is limited and we put a lot of very important things aside to show up, so we hope others respect that. That would be my perfect clan.
  20. In the prologue mission "damage control" right at the end, I get into the hunter and as it drives out, I get "mission failed - missing in action" I looked at youtube videos of the mission, and it looks like this is where it should fade to the next part of the mission. Is there a specific seat I need to sit in? Or a specific timing, like beat the SSgt to the hunter?

    Altis Life RPG

Is there an effective way to filter for First Person Only servers in Altis Life? Or any resource where we can find those? Everyone want's to see the gear they bought. I've become comfortable flying in first person. I figure guys who could fly in first person, well, could strike up a booming business; if the server were locked into Veteran/Hardcore.
  22. Looking for a First Person Only server Somewhat casual. One mission a week. One fireteam practice a week. Events 20:00 EST to about 23:00 with on time starts Hoping for a group willing to train a completely new mil-sim player - but with 250 hours in ArmA3 I am willing to use ranks and protocol in conversation in game / teamspeak I've done training and installed / use ACRE and TFAR with some groups. My biggest problem finding a clan is play time, on time, end time. I have limited gaming time. A mission scheduled for 20:00 hours which doesn't get rolling until 21:30 or later is not good for me. Real life doesn't allow me to stay up like I'm renting ice time. I hope there are some groups out there operating on this basis.
  23. Looking for ArmA 3 Basic Training. TLDR: Age:38 Experience in game: limited/basic = noob Computer Skills: can install mods, and modify start-up parameters Shooter Skills: Probably not competitive Tolerance for disrespect of others: zero Tolerance for disrespect of me: low Ability and Willingness to learn: extreme (learn by doing type - talk doesn't help beyond introduction to concepts and goals - I have always been able to learn anything which I decide to.... except calculus. Calculus and I aren't friends. I learn from mistakes. I will do everything totally wrong the first time, and that will be the last. Correct a mistake for me once. Then if I do it wrong again, start calling me stupid.) Best Play time: 8pm EST two days per week. Preference for age limited servers: min. 21 years of age. I'm a middle aged gamer, as in older than 30. I've become interested in ArmA 3 through DayZ. I am a civilian with little to no military simulation experience. I'm not really a military enthusiast, so my knowledge of gear, methods, tactics etc, is limited. I'm competent in the game engine, I've been introduced to ACRE. I can fly a helo if need be, with a stick and pedals. I have a rudimentary understanding of squad and fireteam roles. I'm a licensed marine VHF operator in Canada, if that matters; though the radio protocols seem to be some strange mix of NATO and CB. I'm sure I can match the group's radio protocols with some time to adapt. I'm looking to better understand tactics, roles, formations, and what to do in an encounter. Ideal play times would be twice a week 8pm EST-mandatory, and other days, pick-up practice. I actually do want to attend noob classes, hosted in game, on weapon use, formations, contact reactions, etc. What doesn't work for me: Hazing or disrespect of other players - this isn't a tightly knit military group. It's some gamers spending an evening relaxing. Internet pedants, Military tech pedants, "I am right and you are not" pedants Military hardened personalities trying to extend their careers, or missed opportunities in a mil-sim and clan environment. I won't stomach blow hards telling me how I'm wasting their time by not understanding the inner workings of the ACRE 518. I'm spending my free time to relax and have fun. I am not trying to live out a military fantasy (to that extent). My real world time is worth money; real money. I spend what I can relaxing, when I can. Assume I'm doing my best to meet my commitments, not that I'm an 18 year old military recruit looking for a father figure. Simulated Military Paperwork and hierarchy. Ranks and leaders are fine in game, but my industry has enough acronyms of it's own for me to learn the short forms of one of several pseudo military organizational structures in a clan. Cursing and Vulgarity - Doesn't add anything to the experience for me. Doesn't make me think you're funny, tough, serious, scary, or smart. There is a reason that I don't generally play online games. Yes, I am aware of which animals my mother is copulating with. Does anyone know of any servers or clans with a system in place to funnel new, inexperienced, players into a regular, casual but serious gaming group? Thanks.
  24. It would be interesting to see: All mic use goes through direct. When soldiers talk they make noise. Side and global use goes through direct and also goes to those channels in the normal way, but gets a radio filter, as though it's being transmitted over a communications device. (and this one is the real challenge) Add a hand signal channel which can only be heard between players (perhaps side only) with line of sight. Because soldiers use non verbal communications which is far too much ask of character animation in the engine. In game, when not using a third party VON, its difficult to tell by listening which communications are coming from where. If you're joining up in an invade and annex, or domination game, you have no idea who is who, and where the chatter is coming from. Ultimately there is no way to stop third party VON software use, but the above would make the in-game sound more understandable, and perhaps somewhat realistic. *edit, I guess I broke the rule, don't dig up old threads* does it count if its pinned?
